Hoda Kotb Steps In With Strength & Faith as Savannah Guthrie Is Surrounded by Love

As the heartbreaking situation involving Savannah Guthrie’s family continues, “Today” alum Hoda Kotb stepped in to co-host the February 6 show. Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, was kidnapped from her home overnight on February 1 and remains missing.

Kotb is especially close to Guthrie off-camera, and she shared some examples of how the “Today” co-hosts have all supported one another over the years. She emphasized that they are all praying for Guthrie’s family, and fans shared that they are, as well.

Savannah Guthrie Has Long Been a Pillar of Support for Her ‘Today’ Colleagues

In a clip shared on the show’s Instagram page, the former “Today” personality noted, “We’re all so close with [Savannah], and we all want to help her.”

Kotb revealed that when her daughter Hope was hospitalized in early 2023, Guthrie was the first one to visit and support her. Kotb also noted that when Carson Daly’s stepfather, Richard Caruso, and mother, Patty Daly, died just weeks apart in 2017, Guthrie was quick to jump on a plane to go support him.

In addition, Kotb shared, when Sheinelle Jones’ husband, Uche Ojeh, was ill, Guthrie was there to sit by his side. When Craig Melvin’s brother, Lawrence Meadows, died in 2020, Guthrie was there.

“I was thinking this morning, you know, they said, ‘Love is patient. Love is kind.’ Like, we’ll be patient and put prayers up. That’s all we can do,” Kotb said as her “Today” colleagues nodded.

Melvin admitted that “Just the feeling of helplessness” was one of the toughest parts of the situation. He added, however, “We’re not helpless because it’s prayer. It’s hope.”

Kotb interjected, “We got that.”

Fans Love the Support the ‘Today’ Stars Show One Another

Kotb has shared multiple posts on her personal Instagram page in support of Guthrie’s family. Her latest, posted on February 5, read, “Until she is found, hope will keep calling her name.”

Additional posts on Kotb’s Instagram page include the heartbreaking video that Guthrie and her siblings shared in response to a ransom note, and another post about the power of prayer.

“Today” fans flooded the Instagram post that contained the clip of Kotb and her colleagues from the February 6 show.

“Love the strength of the Today Show family,” one fan wrote.

“Hoda is the best!! She brings hope that Nancy will come home safe,” another shared.

Someone else added, “Love and prayers for all of Savannah’s Today family. May God comfort all of you as you have to go on and report daily news. What a beautiful Today family she has. We won’t stop praying for Nancy and her family, and all of you.”
