Kotb, 61, did not specifically reference Guthrie or her family, but she posted a message reading “Hope” alongside an image of a rainbow via Instagram on Monday, February 2, prompting speculation from fans.

“Praying for Savannah and her family,” one person wrote in the comments section.

Another added, “Hope that Savannah’s Mom is found safe,” while a third said, “Praying for a miracle for Savannah’s momma!”

On Sunday, February 1, TMZ reported that Guthrie’s mother, Nancy Guthrie, had been reported missing in Arizona. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, Nancy, 84, was last seen at her home in Catalina Foothills around 9:30 p.m. local time on Saturday, January 31.

Sheriff Chris Nanos confirmed that a family member had called 911 earlier in the day to report Nancy missing, and search and rescue teams were conducting both ground and air searches.

Authorities have since shared additional details about the case. According to the Pima County Sheriff’s Department, homicide detectives are investigating Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance and have not ruled out foul play.

Nanos said investigators are “very concerned” about the circumstances surrounding the 84-year-old’s disappearance, noting that while Nancy is not in good physical health, she has “no cognitive issues at all” and is considered to be of sound mind.

Savannah Guthrie Released a Statement From Her Family

Amid the ongoing investigation, Guthrie was absent from the “Today” show, as her cohosts Sheinelle Jones and Craig Melvin addressed the situation on air.

However, Guthrie did release a statement, which Jones and Melvin shared on air.

“On behalf of our family, I want to thank everyone for the thoughts, prayers and messages of support. Right now, our focus remains on the safe return of our dear mom,” the statement read. “We thank law enforcement for their hard work on this case and encourage anyone with information to contact the Pima County Sheriff’s Department at 520-351-4900.”

While cohosts Melvin and Jones filled in for Guthrie on Monday, February 2, intelligence specialist Tom Winter said on air that evidence found at Nancy Guthrie’s home prompted local police to give the case “special attention.”

Guthrie is the youngest of Nancy’s three children, who she shared with her husband Charles Guthrie. Charles passed away when Guthrie was in high school.
