Golden Globe winner John Travolta is more than just an actor. He also has a wide range of interests, including aviation.
This week, he and his daughter, Ella Bleu Travolta, attended the Cannes Film Festival in France together. While many other festival goers traveled by plane, the Travolta family did so in style.
In a new Instagram post, John Travolta revealed he actually flew the plane himself.
John Travolta & His Daughter Enjoy a Special Flight to France
The past few months have been quite eventful for the Travolta family. John Travolta directed the film adaptation of his children’s book, “Propeller One-Way Night Coach.” The new movie tells the story of a young boy experiencing a cross-country flight for the first time.
The film debuted at the Cannes Film Festival this week. Naturally, the director piloted his own flight out to France.
“Big day, big night in Cannes. Stay tuned!” the “Grease” actor shared in an Instagram video on May 14. In the clip, Travolta and his daughter Ella Bleu walk arm in arm toward the camera. Travolta speaks a bit of French before explaining that they’re flying to the Cannes Film Festival.
Once inside the cockpit, Travolta makes an announcement that the flight will be just over 8 hours long.
“So here we are, we arrived safely,” the actor shares once they touch down in France. “Off to the premiere!”
Ella Bleu simply commented a series of emojis, “❤️❤️🙏🎉”
Overall, fans were impressed that John Travolta served as the pilot. Others complimented his work on the film and expressed eagerness to see it in theaters.
“Congratulations 🍾 on the premiere of your movie at Cannes. A beautiful milestone and well deserved moment in the spotlight,” one fan shared in the comments. “I look forward to viewing the film myself. Enjoy the celebration, the journey, and as always… safe travels”
Ella Bleu Plays a Flight Attendant in the Film
While John Travolta made his directorial debut in “Propeller One-Way Night Coach,” Ella Bleu had a starring role. She plays Doris, a friendly flight attendant.
In the trailer, fans can spot the 26-year-old assisting the main character, young aviation enthusiast Jeff. John Travolta also voices the narrator, telling the story through Jeff’s eyes as he rides the Propeller One-Way Night Coach with his mother.
“There was an absolute specimen of an aircraft, my first love,” the 72-year-old narrates. “This would begin an experience I would never forget. Here I am, on this plane, going to one of the farthest trips the airline offers. I never thought things could get better. The sun was shining and I was eating a hot dog at 600 miles per hour.”
“Propeller One-Way Night Coach” Received a High Honor
During the Cannes Film Festival, John Travolta received an Honorary Palme d’Or just before the world premiere of the film. It’s an especially prestigious honor given to figures in the cinema world who have made remarkable strides in the industry.
The Hollywood Reporter notes that Thierry Frémaux, head of the festival, delivered the award. Travolta said he felt “humbled” by the award, noting that it was “beyond the Oscar.”
“Propeller One-Way Night Coach” heads to Apple TV on May 29, 2026.
