Jude Law attended the 82nd Venice International Film Festival in Venice, Italy, but his arrival by water taxi was not as glamorous as his red carpet look.

Footage of the “The Holiday” actor getting off the boat was shared on TMZ on September 1. It shows Law exiting the boat but tripping and falling forward. Luckily, he did not fall hard or into the water, and he appears to have picked himself back up and continued on his journey. Someone waiting on the shore rubs his back after the incident, and off they go.

Law even stopped to sign autographs for fans on his way. The photographer can be heard asking him if he was OK, but the actor chose not to respond to the question.

Law is attending the film festival to promote his new film, “The Wizard of the Kremlin,” in which he plays the role of Russian President Vladimir Putin. Olivier Assayas directs the film, which is an adaptation of Giuliano da Empoli’s bestselling book.

The actor looked smart in a white suit and black bowtie for the film festival. He posed alongside Assayas, who was in a classic black suit.

In another photo, he also posed with his co-stars, Paul Dano, Alicia Vikander, and Jeffrey Wright.

At a press conference on Sunday, August 31, Law addressed the crowd about his role. “I felt confident, in the hands of Olivier [the director] and the script, that this story was going to be told intelligently and with nuance and consideration,” he said, The Guardian reports. “We weren’t looking for controversy for controversy’s sake. It’s a character within a much broader story. We weren’t trying to define anything about anyone.”

He also discussed transforming for the role and how they used makeup. “Olivier and I discussed that this wasn’t to be an impersonation of Putin and he didn’t want me to hide behind a mask of prosthetics,” Law said, The Hollywood Reporter reports. “We worked with an amazing makeup and hair team and had references of that period in Putin’s life. We tried to find a familiarity on me. It’s amazing what a great wig can do.”

He also revealed that he learned judo.

The film is scheduled for release on January 21, 2026.
