Netflix Reboot Introduces Story to New Generation
The story is finding new life as Netflix prepares to bring “Little House on the Prairie” back to audiences with a reimagined adaptation.
A newly released trailer introduces the next chapter, following the Ingalls family as they leave Wisconsin behind in search of a simpler, hopeful life on the prairie.
“Once upon a time, Ma and Pa, and Mary and Laura, left the big woods of Wisconsin and moved to the prairie where a new life was waiting for them,” a young narrator says.
“Every day and every night was an adventure, but even though they were all alone, and very small against the sky and the stars, they were happy because they were a family and they were together.”
Based on the beloved books by Laura Ingalls Wilder, the original series premiered in 1974 and ran for nine seasons, becoming a meaningful part of television history.
The new version aims to bring that story to a new generation, while preserving the warmth and emotional depth that made it so special.
As per the official press release, Netflix executive Jinny Howe described it as a “fresh take on this iconic story,” and showrunner Rebecca Sonnenshine has spoken about her personal connection to the material.
