New reports reveal that the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Department still have “no suspects” and “no leads”, 46 days into the Nancy Guthrie investigation.
Chad Ayers, a former SWAT team leader, made the stunning claim in an episode of “The Megyn Kelly Show,” citing a trusted source with direct knowledge of the investigation.
“I can report from a very, very reliable source that is boots on the ground there that the FBI and the Pima County Sheriff’s Office have no leads, no solid suspects,” Ayers told Kelly.
He also confirmed that every family member of Nancy “passed polygraphs with flying colors.”
In another interview with NewsNation’s Jesse Weber, Ayers maintained the integrity of his source.
“I will tell you this person is, I would just be broad, says they are in that area and are affiliated with the investigation,” the former SWAT member stressed.
Nancy Guthrie Update: Former SWAT Contradicts Sheriff’s Claims
Previously, Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos told NBC News that he thinks he knows the motive behind Nancy Guthrie’s disappearance.
“I think from day one, we had some strong beliefs about what happened,” Nanos told the outlet. “And those beliefs haven’t diminished.”
It was also reported that Nanos is intentionally withholding their theory and other details of the case, citing the integrity of the investigation.
Kelly noted that this contrasts with Ayers’ latest claims that there are still no leads in the case.
“You can have a theory. Let me correct the way he worded it. No suspects. All right,” he explained. “You can have leads without suspects, obviously. And that’s what they’re doing.”
Ayers continued, “That’s why they keep going back to these residences and these houses and following up with neighbors over and over again. They’re probably on to some type of theory, but we still don’t have a suspect.”
Former SWAT Member Confident Nancy Guthrie Case Will Be Solved
Despite the reported lack of suspects or leads, Ayers remains confident the Nancy Guthrie case will be solved, noting that genetic genealogy could be key to cracking it.
“I do believe that this case will be solved,” the former SWAT team leader told Weber. “That genealogy testing, once we get the DNA located on scene into a database, I feel confident we’re going to get a resolution soon. The family deserves it.”
Nancy Guthrie was abducted from her home on February 1st.
