Olivia Munn, 45, is willing to share her experience with breast cancer after being diagnosed in April 2023. That’s why the “Your Friends & Neighbors” actress has just sat down for a new interview which involved her revealing a surprising fact about both symptoms and a mammogram connected to her health battle.
Olivia’s Experience with Symptoms & a Mammogram Aren’t What You’d Expect
Munn discussed her experience with breast cancer during a new interview with “CBS Sunday Morning.” The star detailed how she found out that she had the disease when she took an online quiz called the Lifetime Risk Assessment test. After completing the questions, Munn’s result stated that she was facing a “high risk” of having breast cancer.
Munn had herself checked out, which led to her receiving an early diagnosis of Stage 1 breast cancer. She may not have otherwise found out about the serious health issue due to the fact that, as she explains, she had “[n]o symptoms” and both “a clear mammogram and a clear ultrasound.”
The actress eventually underwent five surgeries, including a double mastectomy, a hysterectomy and a lymph node dissection.
Olivia Hasn’t Been Alone Following Her Breast Cancer Diagnosis

The father of Munn’s daughter, Méi, and son, Malcolm, the actress added, “He is — I mean, you’ve met him. He wanted to come to every single doctor’s appointment.”
“I don’t think he had a moment to himself, between being an incredibly hands-on father and going to and from the hospital — taking Malcolm to the park, putting him to nap, driving to Cedars-Sinai, hanging out with me, going home, putting Malcolm to bed, coming back to me,” she recalled. “And he did it all happily.”
GettyBeyond having her husband by her side, Munn has also connected with other people who have (or have had) breast cancer. She explained, “There is an instant bond with a woman who comes up and says ‘I have breast cancer.’ There is this sisterhood that we have that you just never feel alone — because so many women have gone through it.”
Additionally, the star addressed how her own story has helped others, saying, “Knowing that it’s really changed so many people’s lives. It’s been the most amazing thing. There’s no way I could have ever predicted it.”
Munn also noted, “I know that I am lucky to be here. It’s a true privilege to be alive in the world.”
