Pamela Anderson and Liam Neeson made waves with their flirty behavior while promoting “The Naked Gun,” which prompted folks to believe there was something sweet brewing in the air.
However, despite reports that they were dating, a source revealed to Page Six on August 29, that Anderson and Neeson were just friends.
“There was instant chemistry but it never developed into an intimate relationship,” the insider said. That doesn’t mean the pair didn’t have a real fondness for each other, and the source shared that the co-stars would “always be friends and have a connection.”
Anderson & Liam’s Chemistry Was Reportedly Real
After talk of Anderson and Neeson’s possible romance being just a ruse to promote “The Naked Gun,” a source insisted to People, “Everything between them has been genuine. Neither would ever take part in a publicity stunt. They have a great time. Neither of them needs the publicity.”
Another source shared, “Their relationship isn’t just for show. They have a real connection. There’s no incentive for either of them to stage something like this.”
In July, a source told Us Weekly that Anderson and Neeson were officially an item. “[They] always had chemistry while they were filming and their friendship naturally developed into more.”
The budding romance was still fresh at the time, with the insider revealing to Us Weekly, “They are both shy and have tried to stay private but the spark between them is obvious.”
The source shared that Anderson’s two sons, Brandon Thomas Lee and Dylan Jagger Lee, were encouraging of their mom’s new relationship, and fully approved of Neeson.
A month later, British journalist Rob Shuter claimed Anderson and Neeson’s romance was just for PR. “Their chemistry was real on camera, but off? It was strictly business,” a person who worked on the film spilled.
Another source shared, “It was clever marketing. People want to believe in romance, and Hollywood knows love stories move tickets.”
