Piers Morgan Bravely Uses 2 Canes in First Outing Since Breaking His Hip: VIDEO

Piers Morgan shared a video of the first time he’s braved the city streets since revealing on Jan. 18 that he broke his hip. In the clip shared to his Instagram, the 60-year-old enjoyed a jaunt with two walking canes in both hands as he limped his way down the sidewalk.

“One small step for man — one giant leap for mankind,” the British broadcaster said as a friend filmed his milestone recovery video.

Piers Morgan Jokes About His Broken Hip

Morgan turned to humor in his caption by joking about his changed appearance. “I may look like Tom Hanks at the end of Castaway, and I won’t be winning GQ’s Fashion Icon Man of the Year, but God it felt good to finally get outside for the first time since Hip-gate,” he wrote. “I’m sure Neil Armstrong’s looking down with pride..”

Fans were supportive of the journalist, taking to his comments to express their well wishes for him.

“Be careful!! Well done for getting up and about – sending love ❤️,” wrote one.

“Forward is forward… go team Hip! 🙌,” said another.

“So glad you are back on your feet bro and out of the house – must have been the meals on wheels Sunday roast! X,” added a third.

Piers Morgan Fractured the Neck of His Femur

Morgan previously explained how he broke his hip in an Instagram post from his hospital bed when he was admitted for a hip replacement. “Fell like a sack of spuds,” he said of his fall at a restaurant in London. Morgan added that he fractured the neck of his femur “so badly I needed a new hip.”

A week after tripping on a small step and undergoing surgery, Morgan shared a photo on Instagram of himself holding a can of WD-40, joking with his followers that his friends finally knew how to support him as he recovered from the harsh injury.

“It’s taken longer than I thought, but my friends have finally had enough of me wanging on about my broken hip, and resorted to the kind of mockery and derision I deserve,” he captioned the post. “Thanks for the gift @michaelvaughan !”

In a separate post, he also expressed his gratitude for his loved ones who helped to support him in the hospital, writing, “Lots of friends and family have been incredibly kind and generous during my hospital stay, for which I am incredibly grateful.”
