Richard Branson shared an emotional video on his Instagram of the day he and his family celebrated and honored his late wife, Joan Branson, who sadly died in November 2025.

The video, which he shared on Wednesday, August 26, shows the businessman dressed all in white as he and his family, including the couple’s two kids, dance around and later share a group hug on his private island, Necker Island, in the Caribbean.

“A very special family moment celebrating our beloved Joan with our kids, grandkids, family and friends. Plus the best possible soundtrack: The Happy Song by @wavesrushin 💜,” his caption read.

Branson announced the passing of his wife of 50 years on Instagram on November 25, 2025. Sharing a photo of Joan, he wrote, “Heartbroken to share that Joan, my wife and partner for 50 years, has passed away. She was the most wonderful mum and grandmum our kids and grandkids could have ever wished for. She was my best friend, my rock, my guiding light, my world. Love you forever, Joan x.”

According to the Mirror, Joan died on November 24, 2025, from a blood clot stemming from a previous back injury she sustained from a fall just two weeks earlier.

Branson Previously Shared Photos of How He & His Family Celebrated His Late Wife

A month after her passing, on New Year’s Eve, Branson shared on Instagram that he and his family chose to celebrate Joan’s life rather than focus on grief. A video showed those closest to Joan walking up a hill on his private island as they gathered together to remember and celebrate her legacy. Branson also delivered a heartfelt speech in honor of his late wife and was seen with his arm in a sling after suffering a shoulder injury, per the Daily Mail.

“My family and I have always believed in celebrating people’s lives, while they are with us and after they are gone. That is exactly what we did for Joan,” he began his caption.

“We held a beautiful celebration on Necker Island. There were stories, songs, laughter, and tears, all in honour of the most incredible partner, mum, grandmother, and friend,” it continued.

On July 6th, Branson shared a loving post on Instagram honoring what would have been Joan’s 81st birthday. “Today would have been Joan’s 81st birthday. Keep dancing in the stars. We love you,” he wrote, alongside a throwback photo of Joan dancing.
