Bozoma Saint John joined “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” for the show’s 14th season. Fans were introduced to her boyfriend, Keely Watson, during the season. Now, the marketing executive-turned-reality television star has announced her engagement to him.
According to PEOPLE, the engagement took place on August 29, with approximately 35 close family members and friends, as well as Bravo cameras in attendance. Watson proposed at BOA Steakhouse in West Hollywood, California.
Saint John told the outlet, “This engagement is my testimony: you can rise from grief, reclaim your joy, and still find a love worthy of your ‘yes.'” The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star continued, “Keely is proof that God’s timing is perfect — and so is His plan. I’m saying yes to life, to love, and to the miracle of second chances.”
Watson Planned the Proposal to Saint John Himself
Proposing can be daunting for anyone. For Watson, he wanted the engagement to feel special for Saint John. He told PEOPLE, “I really wanted that element of surprise, and so it was a lot of planning and coordinating on my part with the help of her daughter, Lael, and also her assistant, Nico.”
He continued, “I ordered over 14 dozen roses and had a mega bouquet of 100 roses that I presented to her.” Watson then said, “I lined the walkway with a red carpet and candles, and I built a canopy draped in red to propose under. Around the canopy, there were more roses and candles.”
In describing his feelings leading up to asking her to marry him, Watson admitted, “It was kind of like being in a boxing match; once you step into the ring, it’s showtime. You have to be ready.”
Saint John then said, “Even though I knew we wanted to get married, I wasn’t sure where or when Keely would ask.” She continued, “I am still in shock and disbelief. I was nervous because I thought about how it would be when he asked, and I wanted to be able to be composed through it, but that was hard to do because my emotions were at an all-time high.”
He Had Limited Time to Ask Due to Her New Show
Watson also stated in the interview that he had minimal time to ask Saint John to marry him. This is the case because she would soon be promoting her new show, “On Brand With Jimmy Fallon.” According to NBC, the show premieres on September 30.
As mentioned, the Bravo cameras were present for the big day, which means fans will more than likely see him pop the question when “The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills” returns later this year.
