“The Voice” is returning this week for season 29, and we will see a whole new set of artists take the stage for the Blind Auditions. Over the years, we have seen some jaw-dropping performances, powerhouse vocals, and unforgettable moments when the coaches hit their button, and those red chairs turn around. The Voice Blinds have produced some of the show’s most viral and emotional moments. We took a look back and came up with this list of five of the most memorable Blind Auditions in “The Voice” history.
1. Christina Grimmie
During season 6 on “The Voice, we had a viral moment come to life when Christina Grimmie had her Blind Audition. She sang “Wrecking Ball” by Miley Cyrus.
Christina has such a powerful tone and control of her voice that she shocked the coaches. All four of them hit their button for Grimmie, who ended up joining Team Adam.
It was a four-chair turnaround audition, and it became a defining moment in the show’s history, helping launch Grimmie into the spotlight.
2. Girl Named Tom
On “The Voice” season 21, we had another four-chair turn during the Blind Audition for the sibling trio, Girl Named Tom. For their audition, they sang “Helplessly Hoping” by Crosby, Stills & Nash.
They had such tight harmonies, emotional lyrics, and a unique sound that captivated all four coaches. They chose Kelly Clarkson as their coach, riding that wave for Team Kelly all the way to the Voice Finale and being named the winners of season 21.
3. Tessanne Chin
In season 5, Jamaican singer Tessanne Chin delivered a breathtaking blind audition with “Try” by Pink. Her commanding vocals and soulful presence got all four coaches to turn for her, leaving viewers wanting more.
Her Blind Audition became one of the most replayed auditions of the season. It also set the stage for Tessanne to join Adam Levine, leading Team Adam to win that season.
4. Sawyer Fredericks
Sawyer Fredericks got three of the coaches to hit their button for him during his Blind Audition before the music even started! Blake Shelton would eventually join the other coaches, as it was a four-chair turn for Sawyer.
He ended up choosing Pharrell Williams as his coach, and had a record-run on “The Voice” season 8. He set series iTunes sales records and became the youngest male winner in the history of the show at age 16, so his earthy, folk-infused voice was loved by all.
5. Chloe Kohanski
In Season 13, Chloe Kohanski brought raw energy and emotional grit to her audition of “The Chain” by Fleetwood Mac. It started slowly for her, but that seemed to be her story for the entire season.
She got three of the coaches to turn for her, ultimately choosing to join Team Miley. She then lost in The Knockouts, before Blake Shelton and Jennifer Hudson tried to steal her away. Chloe chose to join Team Blake, which was a wise choice: she took it all the way to a season 13 win.
The Blind Auditions are such a fun time and a great chance to meet the new artists. What Blind Audition on “The Voice” is most memorable to you?
