Kelly Clarkson Reveals Game Plan to Win ‘The Voice’ Season 29

The competition is fiercer than ever on “The Voice” season 29, but Kelly Clarkson isn’t intimidated. As the “Battle of Champions” brings together only winning coaches, Clarkson is leaning into her experience, her instincts, and, of course, a little playful trash talk as she maps out her plan for victory.

Clarkson’s Strategy to Win ‘Battle of Champions’

It’s a return of fan-favorite coaches, as Adam Levine, John Legend, and Clarkson will be battling it out on “The Voice” season 29. This is the first time in the show’s history that all of the coaches competing have previously won.

The stakes are higher, so they are all busy putting together their winning strategies. Kelly Clarkson is up first.

Clarkson was given a form to answer some questions, which included her goal for this season of “The Voice.” Seems pretty obvious, but her goal is to win, then jokes about you’d be a “loser” if you didn’t say to win.

Later in the video, it asks for her strategy to beat the other coaches, which she says is just to be herself. She adds, “Burn, because I’ve won more than them.”

Kelly’s Other Responses

The questionnaire had other random, fun questions for Clarkson to fill out. Her responses were:

  • Song You’re Listening to on Repeat: Fleetwood Mac album, “Rumors”
  • Dream Duet Partner: Bonnie Raitt
  • Comfort Movie or TV Show: Kelly joked, “This is so old-school. I watch ‘Pillow Talk’ with Doris Day and Rock Hudson, like a lot.”
  • Artist You Grew Up Listening To: Clarkson was not happy with this question, as she said, “I hate this question. Like a billion people.” While she listened to a billion people, she ended up picking Aretha Franklin as her main one.

Format for ‘The Voice’ Season 29

For this new season of “The Voice” 2026, it will feature four rounds of competition. Each round will feature a distinct first for “The Voice”:

  • Blinds: The coaches will be competing against each other in the “Triple Turn Competition.” The coaches are each vying for the most three-chair turn wins. The coach who wins will get a special advantage in the next round.
  • Battles: The coach who wins the most three-chair turns will get a “Super Steal” in the Battle Rounds. This prize can only be used once and trumps any other coach’s attempt to steal, so it guarantees them a win.
  • Knockouts: This is a wild one, as each coach will be bringing back two fan-favorite artists from their teams in previous seasons. These artists will compete in an “In-Season All-Star Competition.” These all-stars will battle it out in head-to-head sing-offs. The coach who wins the most sing-offs is guaranteed a second finalist in the finale. Original “The Voice” coach CeeLo Green will return for this special episode, and he will determine the winner of each All-Star Showdown.
  • Semifinal & Finale Week: Each coach will have three artists in the semifinals, so a Top 9 will be formed. This will then culminate in the Top 4 Finale. These rounds will feature a new voting block, which will be made up of super fans and past artists from “The Voice.” They will be experiencing the competition as part of the in-studio audience and voting for their favorites in real time during the semifinals and finale.

“The Voice” season 29 premieres on Monday, February 23 at 9 p.m. ET/PT on NBC. New episodes will be available to stream the next day on Peacock.
