Adam Levine played plenty of pranks on his “The Voice” co-star Blake Shelton over the years. The Maroon 5 frontman is no stranger to a practical joke–and isn’t afraid to take it too far. Check out some of Levine’s funniest pranks on Shelton to date.
Framing His ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ Cover
In an appearance on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” in 2018, Levine revealed that he pulled a practical joke that was “a lot more expensive” than he wanted to admit. In 2013, Levine was dubbed the “sexiest man alive” by PEOPLE Magazine. He appeared on “Kimmel” standing in front of a towering version of the cover. Levine framed the giant cover and mailed it to Shelton’s house in Oklahoma, where the country singer hung it up in his barn. Shelton would then go on to clinch PEOPLE’s title of “sexiest man alive” two years later.
Dumping Cow Manure on Blake’s Truck
In 2014, Levine played a rather dirty prank on his co-star. Shelton tweeted Levine’s phone number. Levine acted to “return the favor” by causing a big, dirty mess for the country singer to clean up. He ordered two bulldozers to dump piles of cow manure on Shelton’s truck. The shiny red vehicle was soon covered in the excrement, with Levine emphasizing that it was “feces of animals.”
Sabotaging Blake’s Chair
In 2013, Levine was accused of sabotaging Shelton during an early audition episode of season 5 of “The Voice.” When he attempted to turn around to express interest in a contestant, Shelton was unable to. His chair malfunctioned and went the wrong way, prompting laughter from his fellow judges. He immediately accused Levine of messing with the chair. Levine laughed in response to Shelton’s inability to turn the right way, jokingly reveling in his frenemy’s misfortune.
Blake Turns the Tables on Adam
After bearing the brunt of his co-stars silly pranks and practical jokes, Shelton decided to flip the script on Levine. After Levine’s girlfriend expressed that she wanted a teacup pig as a pet, the country singer talked him into giving him $5,000 to purchase the animal. Shelton claimed that the pig he acquired was Levine’s desired size of a teacup pig, but the pig later grew to be “like 400 pounds” after Levine owned it for six months. Shelton reportedly never paid him back the $5,000 he was given to purchase the not-so-tiny swine.
