Reality TV Star Tearfully Reveals Harrowing Escape From Australia Tragedy: ‘I’m a Bit Numb’

Reality TV star Josh Moss is sharing a harrowing account of his experience during the Bondi Beach shooting. The “Love Island” Australia star took to Instagram to confirm he was safe after being caught near the scene on Sunday, describing the fear and chaos as crowds tried to flee.

“I was at Bondi yesterday when the attacks happened. Luckily, I was able to run away to safety. I am still speechless at what I saw.”

He added, “I am safe, though heartbroken at what has happened in my beautiful home. Sending my thoughts and prayers to everyone who has been affected by this. My heart is with you all.”

‘Absolute Fear’: What Josh Moss Says He Saw

In a follow-up video, Moss fought back tears as he described scenes from the day that continue to haunt him.

“I was down at Bondi yesterday and saw some pretty horrific things. Parents grabbing their kids, grandparents sprinting, brothers and sisters grabbing each other with a look of absolute fear in their eyes, terrified.”

He said he struggled to understand why he felt compelled to speak out.

“I’m not sure why I’m even making this video. Maybe to raise awareness and come together, but I do feel pretty weird today that I was able to run away to safety and other people weren’t.”

Moss said he struggled to process why he survived when others did not.

As per the UK Sun, “I don’t know how to feel. I’m a bit numb as to why I was able to get away. I think it’s important that we come together. Tell your loved ones how much they mean to you and put your arm around someone.”

He went on to express sympathy for those most affected.

“I can’t even imagine the people out there who have someone close to them who has been affected by this, who have suffered injury or even worse. My heart goes out to the Jewish community or any other families that were affected by this.”

Before ending the video, he urged compassion and unity.

“I’m a bit speechless by the whole thing. Tell someone you love them and give them a big hug. We need to stick together.”

What Authorities Have Said About the Shooting

As per the BBC, authorities said at least 200 people had gathered at Bondi Beach on Sunday night for a Hanukkah festival. Witnesses reported that two men exited a vehicle on Campbell Parade near the Bondi Pavilion and opened fire at about 6.45 p.m.

Police later identified the shooters as a 50-year-old father, who was shot and killed by officers, and his 24-year-old son, who was left in critical condition. The attack killed 15 people and injured many others.

As the investigation continues, Moss’ emotional account underscores the shock and grief felt well beyond Bondi Beach.
