Where to Watch the Ball Drop Live Tonight – TV & Streaming Info

As the final hours of the year tick away, Times Square once again prepares for its most famous moment. The New Year’s Eve ball drop, a tradition dating back more than a century, will draw millions of viewers tonight as crowds gather in Midtown Manhattan and audiences tune in from around the world.

For those not braving the cold streets of New York City, multiple television networks and streaming platforms will carry live coverage of the countdown to midnight. From celebrity-hosted specials to free official livestreams, viewers have no shortage of ways to ring in the new year from home.

The Times Square ball will begin its descent at 11:59 p.m. Eastern, marking the final 60 seconds of the year before fireworks, confetti, and celebrations usher in 2026.

Network TV Specials Lead the Night

Broadcast television remains the most popular way to watch the ball drop live. ABC will air its annual “Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest,” which begins earlier in the evening and builds toward the midnight countdown. According to TV Insider, Seacrest returns as host alongside Rita Ora, with performances and live check-ins from Times Square and other cities.

CNN will also offer live coverage with “New Year’s Eve Live,” hosted by Anderson Cooper and Andy Cohen. The cable network’s broadcast blends live reporting from Times Square with celebrity interviews and commentary throughout the night. USA Today reports the CNN special will again air uncensored reactions from the hosts as they count down to midnight.

CBS will take a different approach with “New Year’s Eve Live: Nashville’s Big Bash.” The special focuses on country music performances from Nashville while still carrying the midnight moment on the East Coast, according to TV Insider.

Fox News will ring in 2026 with three one-hour specials. Brian Kilmeade, Tomi Lahren, and Griff Jenkins kick off at 8 p.m. with a look back at 2025, followed by Tyrus and Kat Timpf at 9 p.m., and Jimmy Failla at 11 p.m. with a final countdown and year-end highlights, according to Fox News.

Viewers without cable can still access these broadcasts through live TV streaming services such as Hulu + Live TV, YouTube TV, FuboTV, and Sling TV, all of which carry ABC, CBS, and CNN.

Free Streaming Options and Official Coverage

For those looking to watch without a subscription, the official Times Square New Year’s Eve webcast offers a free alternative. The livestream begins earlier in the evening and continues through midnight, featuring multiple camera angles and behind-the-scenes coverage from Times Square.

According to the Times Square Alliance, the webcast will stream on TimesSquareNYC.org and across official social media platforms. The feed typically includes closed captioning and does not feature commercial interruptions.

Travelers and viewers outside the United States often turn to this stream as a reliable way to watch the ball drop in real time. Condé Nast Traveler reported that the official webcast provides one of the clearest and most direct views of the ball without network commentary.

Social media platforms such as YouTube, Facebook, and X also host live videos from news outlets and on-the-ground creators, though viewers should verify the stream is live and not prerecorded.

Those attending the celebration in person should expect heavy security and limited mobility. According to city officials, revelers begin lining up in the afternoon and must remain in designated areas once streets close. There are no restrooms, no re-entry, and limited access to food and water.

As the countdown approaches, whether on a couch, at a party, or via a phone screen, the ritual remains the same. The ball drops, the crowd cheers, and a new year officially begins.
