A new video has revealed what went on behind the scenes of the brilliant dance performed by the ‘Strictly Come Dancing‘ judges on the week 1 show of series 23.
On Saturday, September 27, the judges — Shirley Ballas, Anton Du Beke, Motsi Mabuse, and Craig Revel Horwood — pulled out all the stops as they performed a four-minute routine to open the show.
The theme of the performance was dancing through the decades, with Du Beke in the 1970s, Ballas in the 1980s, Mabuse going from the 1990s into the new Millennium, and Revel Horwood (in four different period costumes, no less) playing compere by introducing and hosting the whole thing. The show’s professional dancers also took part.
Needless to say, the routine went down very well with fans.
‘Strictly Come Dancing’ Fans Loved ‘Fabulous’ Judges Routine
When the video of the routine was posted to YouTube on the official ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ page, fans of the show viewed, liked, and commented in their droves. The universal opinion was one of admiration, with many fans wanting to see more of the judges doing what they’re best at.
One user wrote, “We need to see more of the judges dancing, let them show off their credentials. Anton and Shirley in particular were magnificent. Can we have another before the end of the series?”
Another said, “Love seeing the judges prove they know what they are talking about – fabulous opening to what looks like a brilliant season.”
Someone else commented, “Fabulous opening! The judges doing what they do best – and doing it fabulously well. Now that’s what I call inspirational. May I add how gorgeous Lauren (in a wig!) and Nadiya are in the first segment!”
Finally, another fan noted, “Best Opening ever! More Traditional Ballroom and Latin Pro numbers please Jason Gilkison. I am so tired of sultry posing Hot Gossip style disco Ensemble routines week after week. This was fantastic, and include the Judges. Noone can glide in Ballroom like Anton.”
More recently, however, a video has been posted on the show’s official Instagram page giving fans a glimpse behind the scenes of the fantastic performance.
BTS Video Shows Stars ‘Excited’ to Perform Their Dance
The video is captioned “We’re in the mood for dancing and so are our Judges 🤭 Here’s an exclusive BTS of their special performance 🤩 #Strictly”.
Fans were thrilled to see it, with one writing, “Ah I was there when you filmed this it was fabuloussss ❤️💃🏻,” and it was great to see what went on as the judges prepared for their routine.
It shows everyone having fun, smiling, laughing, cheering each other on, and even singing. One clip has Ballas standing with Vito Coppola, as Coppola enthusiastically says, “Honestly, I’m so excited to be back to the 80s!”
There are also some clips of the judges and dancers rehearsing before going on stage, with one showing Mabusi and Johannes Radebe practising their Rumba.
Another humorous clip shows professional dancer Kai Widdrington helping fellow pro Neil Jones to limber up before the dance, with Widdrington saying, “Our older pros need a bit of extra TLC from us youngsters.”
