Beloved ’60s soap actress Fay Lenore has passed away at the age of 97, Daily Mail reports.
During her career, which spanned over six decades, Lenore notably starred in the long-standing British soap opera “Take the High Road” in the 1980s.
During her fame, she showcased her musical and acting talents by sharing the stage with Frank Sinatra in the 1980s and performing for Queen Elizabeth II at the 25th Royal Variety Show at the London Palladium in 1954, according to the Daily Mail. She also collaborated with comedic icons Rikki Fulton and Stanley Baxter.

GettyHer career was so well respected that in 2007, she was honored by the Scottish Music Hall and Variety Theatre Society with a special event dedicated to her at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall.
In her death statement, formally shared on The Scotsman obituary website on Monday, Feb. 2, her family wrote that she passed away on Jan. 8 at the Ythanvale Care Home, in Ellon, Aberdeenshire, Scotland.
“It is with great sorrow that the family of Fay Lenore announce her sad passing on 8th January, 2026 at Ythanvale Care Home, Ellon at the grand age of 97,” the statement read.

Getty“Her final curtain call is to take place on 6th February to celebrate her life and to which all friends are respectfully invited,” the statement continued. “Family flowers only please, but donations in lieu, if so desired, may be given at the Crematorium door for Friends of Ythanvale. May your star shine as bright in heaven as you did on Earth.”
Lenore was a significant figure in the life of “Britain’s Got Talent” star Susan Boyle, whom she taught singing lessons to before rising to fame after stunning the world with her rendition of “I Dreamed a Dream.” According to her IMDb, the soap actress also fancied theater, starting her stage career at just 18 months old and more frequently at age 15.
Lenore is survived by her daughter, Shona; her son, Robb; her grandchildren and their families; as well as her beloved theater family, per her obituary. The late entertainer married Highland Games champion Jay Scott after reportedly meeting in Glasgow in 1957. Scott sadly died at the age of 66 after suffering from a heart attack. The Herald reports that he was sick for several months before he passed away.
