“Six-year cancer checkup day. Blood work, CT scan, X-rays. Grateful to be here. I’ll keep you posted,” Mathison wrote in his caption.

Fans of the beloved “Hannah Swensen Mystery” film actor shared their support for him in the comments, expressing their gratitude for his state of health and for sharing his journey in getting there.

“God Bless you sending lots of Prayers and positive thoughts,” wrote one.

“Prayers to Heaven, buddy!!! Thank you for sharing your journey with us!” said another.

“Let’s keep it clear and cancer-free, my friend,” added a third.

Mathison was diagnosed in September 2019 with renal cell carcinoma, also known as kidney cancer, People reports. Within days of his diagnosis, Mathison underwent a partial nephrectomy to remove the tumor and part of a kidney.

After his surgery, he told supporters via Instagram that “the tumor is gone” and he was able to keep 80 percent of his affected kidney.

Cameron Mathison Opens Up About the Moment He Found Out He Had Cancer

Entertainment Tonight reported that the “General Hospital” star felt lucky that his healthy lifestyle habits prevented his cancer from spreading. At the time of his diagnosis, he took to Instagram to credit his wellness routine for saving his life.

“The good news is that it hasn’t spread to any other organs,” Mathison shared on Instagram at the time. “They say my healthy lifestyle and diet has no doubt helped keep it from growing and spreading to other areas, as doctors think it’s been growing in me for minimum 10 years. I am extremely lucky that we found it early.”

Mathison opened up in a previous interview with People about the moment his doctor told him he had cancer, saying, “It was really scary.”

The Great American Family actor continued, “My doctor called me and said, ‘They found a growth on your right kidney that is consistent with renal cell carcinoma.’ It was like one of those moments where you’re in a dream. I just wanted to wake up.”

While Mathison proudly wears his scars on his midsection, he continues to keep himself in tip-top shape by keeping active in the gym, often posting his workouts to his social media. He even founded Health360, a program with pointed fitness and wellness coaching.
