Despite the unpopularity of the idea among many fans of The Young and the Restless, it seems as if the show writers are about to kick off a romance between Victoria Newman (Amelia Heinle) and Kyle Abbott (Michael Mealor). This pairing would reside squarely in the land of faux pas for a few reasons. 

Looking past the age gap, Kyle is the ex of not only Victoria’s niece Summer (last played by Allison Lanier), but more importantly, of Victoria’s daughter Claire (Hayley Erin). Although Claire dumped Kyle and now seems to be very hot and heavy with Holden (Nathan Owens), she probably wouldn’t be that forgiving to learn her mother is fooling around with her ex. 

On the flip side of things, there’s the fact that Victoria is the ex-wife of Kyle’s uncle Billy (Jason Thompson). Now, Kyle has never really cared for Billy, but their relationship is sure to hit a few more bumps in the road if “Vyle” becomes an item (can’t help but chuckle at the wordplay with Vyle and vile). 

Victor Hates the Abbotts

Then there’s arguably the biggest issue at play for Victoria and Kyle… their last names. Victor (Eric Braeden) has made it abundantly clear that he doesn’t want the Newmans co-mingling with the Abbotts anymore. He didn’t support Victoria’s marriages to Billy, and he loathed the fact that Claire and Kyle were dating. Additionally, Victor especially despises Jack (Peter Bergman) and views Kyle as a chip off the old block. There’s no way Victor would approve of his daughter and Jack’s son dating, and The Mustache would likely plot and scheme to break them up. 

For all these reasons, a Vyle romance would probably start off as a secret just between Victoria and Kyle. And in the world of soaps, every secret needs someone else to stumble upon it. Enter the one person who would salivate with knowledge of this information.

Will Audra Learn of a Romance Between Victoria & Kyle?

Talk about the drama. If Claire’s #1 enemy learns that Claire’s mom is fooling around with Kyle, you better believe Audra (Zuleyka Silver) would savor the juicy secret that could send Claire into a meltdown. Despite Audra and Claire calling a truce earlier this year, The Young and the Restless viewers know that was a truce not built to last. These two women are still very much enemies, and Audra would jump at the chance to stick it to Claire. Telling the Newman heir that her mom is sleeping with Kyle would be one heck of a zinger. Audra would also be thrilled by the chance to hurt Kyle and drag a skeleton out of his closet, given their history of backstabbing. 

Outside of revenge, Audra has also never been happy about the fact that her ex, Holden, has been getting close to Claire. Audra could think that if Holden sees Claire lose it over Kyle’s “maternal betrayal,” Holden will be turned off by Claire and pump the brakes on their romance.
