James Wilkie Broderick may come from Hollywood royalty, but he’s starting to carve out his own spotlight. The 23-year-old son of “Sex and the City” Icon Sarah Jessica Parker, 61, and actor Matthew Broderick, 64, caught fans’ attention on Monday, June 1, when he shared a striking new series of portraits photographed by musician and photographer Brad Walsh.

James shared the images in an Instagram carousel, captioning the post, “So dope!! Thank you @bradwalsh ❤️” He also took to his Instagram Stories to say he was “SO HONORED” to collaborate with Walsh.
The black-and-white shoot opened with James in a sleeveless tank top, followed by a second shot of him raising his arms above his head and flexing against a wall.
For the “Elsbeth” actor, who has spent most of his life away from the public eye, it was a rare moment in the spotlight.

GettyParker showed up for her son the way only a mom can. The “Sex and the City” star commented on the post with three simple words that carried plenty of weight: “Ah handsome. And happy. Xxx, mama.”
The sentiment felt right at home coming from Parker, who gave one of the most genuinely moving speeches of awards season at the January 2026 Golden Globes, where she accepted the Carol Burnett Award.
“To my beloved family, my brilliant husband Matthew Broderick, who has been my husband for just shy of 30 years,” she said, as reported by People.
“Who has given me a family discount, an all-access pass to his masterclass in acting, comedy and dedication.”
She went on to address her three children directly. “And to the family we have made. Our divine James Wilkie, Loretta and Tabitha, oh God. I love you so deeply and admire so much the people that you are becoming. That every day at home and at work, I want to make you proud.”
How Parker and Broderick Have Raised Their Kids Out of the Spotlight
James was born Oct. 28, 2002, at Lenox Hill Hospital in Manhattan. According to People, his parents chose the name as a nod to Broderick’s late father, actor James Broderick.
Parker’s publicist told the outlet that “Mother and baby are doing very well. Everyone is healthy,” while Broderick’s rep told the Associated Press that the whole family “is totally over the moon and ready to go home.”
GettyParker and Broderick tied the knot in 1997 and have three children together. James’ twin sisters, Tabitha Hodge and Marion Loretta Elwell, are now 16, having been born in June 2009.
The couple has kept their children largely shielded from public life, though James has made select red carpet appearances over the years, including the 2021 premiere of “And Just Like That…” at the Museum of Modern Art in New York City.
With this latest shoot, it looks like he’s ready for the world.
