Jonathan Young may have dominated challenges and camp life on “Survivor 50,” but now the runner-up is opening up about the jury vote he believes cost him the $2 million prize. Jonathan claims one fellow juror “rallied the troops” against him at Ponderosa, suggesting the game didn’t stop once players were voted out on “Survivor” 2026. His comments are already sparking debate among fans about how much influence jurors should have behind the scenes after their torches are snuffed. Check out the details below in our “Survivor” spoilers.
Best Game of ‘Survivor 50’?
Yes, Jonathan made it to the Final 3 and seemed to get plenty of support during that Final Tribal Council. However, the jury voted, and he lost 8-3 to Aubry. Despite falling short in that final vote, he does believe he played the strongest overall game this season.
During “Survivor 50,” Jonathan said he worked hard to show people he was more than just a challenge beast and provider around camp. Heading into the season, everyone knew he was a physically dominant player.
He said he’s spent years working on improving his strategic and social gameplay after Season 42 ended. Jonathan even worked with Boston Rob to up his strategic thinking.
Jonathan told Parade, “I’m proud to say that I’ve changed my game. Most people, they say it, and they don’t do it, but I did change my game completely.”
His growth showed throughout the season. He helped direct multiple major votes. He won critical challenges, like that Final 5 Immunity Challenge that got Tiffany voted out. Jonathan was also able to take on the fire-making challenge at Final 4 and easily defeat Rizo.
With all of that said, did he play the best game out of all the castaways? He seems to think so.
Jury Was Stacked Against Him?
During that Finao Tribal Council, the focus was definitely on Jonathan and Aubry. It seemed like one of them was going to win, with Stephenie and Chrissy both singing his praises throughout that Final Tribal Council.
However, Jonathan lost to Aubry in an 8-3 vote. He seems to think he knows why he lost, as a certain jury member turned the others against him.
Jonathan told Parade, “I knew I couldn’t trust Miss Cirie.” He went on to say that he believes Cirie “rallied the troops when she got back to Ponderosa.” Her rallying the troops at Ponderosa is part of the reason why Jonathan thinks he lost.
He explained, “Do you think she just has the influence in the game like she did, where she’s got four people asking her, ‘Hey, how do we vote?’ You don’t think they’re doing that at Ponderosa?”
Jonathan definitely thinks Cirie had a big influence on how members of the jury voted. He continued, “And it is by happenstance that the people that surrounded her and asked her, ‘Well, how do we vote?’ are the same people that didn’t vote for me in the finale? I’m just curious. That’s at least that’s what I see.”
He went on to claim that “the game doesn’t end once you hit Ponderosa.” Jonathan said, “People talk about it all the time. It doesn’t stop till the finale is out. So that’s what I think happened.”
Do you think Cirie had any influence on how members of the jury voted during the “Survivor 50” finale?
