The finale of “Survivor: Australia vs. the World” aired on Sunday, September 6, watching as U.S. “Survivor” stars Parvati Shallow and Cirie Fields went head-to-head (to-head-to-head) with Australian players Luke Toki and Janine Allis to earn the season’s $250,000 AUD grand prize and the coveted dual titles of “Sole Survivor” and “Greatest ‘Survivor’ Player of All Time.” But the question remains – Who won?
Be warned! This story contains major spoilers for the finale of “Survivor: Australia vs. the World.”
What Happened in the ‘Survivor: Australia vs. the World’ Finale?
As the grand finale began the remaining four players faced off in one last Individual Immunity challenge that required the castaways to keep two heavy sandbags hoisted with their arms while standing on narrow poles. While Janine and Cirie fell from the challenge fairly quickly, a showdown ensued between Parvati and Luke, with Parvati ultimately emerging victorious and securing her spot in the Final Three.
A tense Tribal Council followed, seeing the remaining Americans (Parvati and Cirie) face off against the remaining Australians (Luke and Janine) to see who would become the final member of the jury. In the end, Parvati and Cirie cast their votes for Luke, while Janine and Luke, unable to vote for Parvati, cast their votes for Cirie, forcing a tie.
To determine which castaway would join Parvati and Janine in the finale, “Australian Survivor” host Jonathan LaPaglia announced that Luke and Cirie would compete in a final fire-making challenge.
Which Three Castaways Made it to Final Tribal Council?
After facing off in the dreaded Final Four fire-making challenge, Cirie Fields became the first “Survivor” player in history to lose the last-minute competition three times. As a result, Luke earned her spot in the Final Three alongside Janine and Parvati, with Cirie becoming final member of the “Australia vs. the World” jury.
At the Final Tribal Council each of the three remaining players pleaded their cases to the gathered jury, which included previously eliminated castaways Sarah Tilleke, Kirby Bentley, Kass Bastarache, Tommi Manninen, Lisa Holmes, Shonee Botwell and Cirie Fields..
Who Won ‘Survivor: Australia vs. the World’?
In the end, following a 6-1-0 jury vote, the winner of “Survivor: Australia vs. the World” is… PARVATI SHALLOW!!!
Network 10The jury’s decision cemented Parvati, better known as the ‘Black Widow,’ as the third “Survivor” player to win the series twice, following Sandra Diaz-Twine and Tony Vlachos. The 42-year-old mother-of-one previously won the title of “Sole Survivor” on “Survivor: Micronesia – Fans vs. Favorites” in 2008.
Shallow similarly finished the season as the only player to receive no votes against her at any Tribal Council, barring the final jury vote. She similarly voted correctly in every single elimination of the season, always staying on the right side of the vote.
Parvati’s near-perfect performance on “Survivor: Australia vs. the World” will undoubtedly go down in history as a masterclass on how to play the game, and will act as the ideal exit for the castaway, who previously reported that she will never appear on “Survivor” as a contestant again after her fifth run on the Emmy-winning franchise.
