Kaitlyn Bristowe is a popular member of Bachelor Nation and surely knows what she’s talking about when it comes to the franchise, considering the fact that she was once the Bachelorette. That’s why fans are likely interested in what she has to say about the show’s big change.
Fortunately, she opened up to People about her thoughts on the fact that the show has not cast someone from a previous season of “The Bachelor” like it has always done in the past. Instead, they’ve cast “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” star Taylor Frankie Paul.
“I think now I won’t be the only messy Bachelorette, and I am here for that because I’m like, I just want to encourage her,” Bristowe said. However, she then added, “I don’t think she needs encouragement, actually. I think she knows how to be herself, and that’s the beauty of Taylor.”
“She is not pretending to be anything else but herself and I think that’s so refreshing, especially on reality TV,” she continued.
Bristowe Hopes Paul Can ‘Surrender to the Process’
GettyBeing the Bachelorette is surely a wild ride and Paul is well aware of how reality TV works. That’s why Bristowe isn’t sure if Paul’s experience will be a good or bad thing. She explained that “when you see how the sausage is made, you overthink things.”
Instead, Bristowe hopes the new Bachelorette can simply “surrender to the process.”
“I actually think this is so beautiful because so many people are going on this show to get an Instagram following,” Bristowe said, while pointing out that Paul already has a large following and doesn’t need to court more fans.
“She has set it up like, what you see is what you get,” Bristowe continued. “You’re walking into my faith or my three children and this life that I live that’s fully on camera, and I think the guys are going to go in with a little more intention than they would on other seasons.”
Bristowe Thinks Paul Will Be ‘a Little More Raw & Real’
Getty“The Bachelorette” may be a reality TV show; however, it was still based on fantasy. Bristowe thinks that will now change with Paul in the lead role.
“I think we all watched The Bachelor for the fantasy of it, but now we’ve seen that for so long and the format got a little stale and we know what’s coming — we know the drama is coming, people aren’t here for the right reasons, we’re not here to make friends,” Bristowe told People. “I think [Paul is] gonna be a little more raw and real. And I’m here for that.”
Bristowe said Paul will “have the backbone also to say what she wants with producers — instead of being like, ‘Well, I’ve never done this before,’ she could be like, ‘I know what I’m doing and this is what I want.'”
“I feel like she’s gonna be very refreshing,” Bristowe said. “I would honestly say that this will bring me back in [to watching the show].”
