Former “The Bachelorette” star Katie Thurston is proving she is very much alive despite false death rumors. The reality TV star, who announced her breast cancer diagnosis progressed to stage four in March, hilariously debunked the reports with an Instagram video showing herself on the “other side.”
Katie Thurston Makes Heavenly Cameo After False Death Reports
Katie Thurston is clapping back from the “other side.” After spotting false death rumors online, the season 17 Bachelorette lead responded with dark humor, posting an Instagram video showing herself … in heaven.
Using an Instagram filter wearing a halo around her head and angel wings, Thurston filmed a fake ad for coffin company Titan Caskets. “Good morning! It’s me, on the other side,” Thurston began. “I do just want to shout out Facebook for letting my friends, family, myself know that I have passed on.” Thurston then added that she was “chilling with God.”
After shouting out the casket company with her fake ad, she concluded her statement with, “Just want to let you know things are good. Life is great up here.”
According to E! News, Thurston posted her dark-humored clip after reading false reports of her death. Taking to Instagram Stories, she called the reports “triggering” and felt “helpless.”
“I’ve seen this article go around before, but something about tonight really [expletive] pisses me off,” she tearfully shared. “It was triggering. I tried to report it [but] there’s nothing I can do. I just feel helpless. I’m so mad right now.”
Thurston first announced that she was diagnosed with stage 3 breast cancer in an Instagram post in February. The following month, the Bachelor star confirmed that it had progressed to stage 4.
Thurston Gives a Health Update
GettyThurston has continued to keep her family, friends, and fans up-to-date since learning of her cancer diagnosis. In her most recent update, which she shared on Instagram on Sept. 19, Thurston said that she will be undergoing a double mastectomy in November.
In her video, Thurston shared that the current medications she is taking for her breast cancer are working, and if all goes as planned, she will be having a double mastectomy. “I predict, I hope, I pray that I will have no evidence of disease,” she said, noting she will remain on medication for the rest of her life. She added that the next step is preparing for her surgery.
During her July appearance on Kaitlyn Bristowe’s “Off the Vine” podcast, Thurston spoke with optimism about her breast cancer journey.
“My hope for the future is that, whether it’s this year or next year, I’ll be like, ‘Hey guys, there’s no evidence of disease.’ Even though technically, stage four is not curable. Technically, medically, I will have breast cancer forever. But with so much advancement happening and the way that I caught it when I did, I’m very optimistic,” she shared.
