Madison Prewett Reveals How She Joined ‘The Bachelor’

The Bachelor” runner-up Madison Prewett revealed the series of events that led to her joining the reality television show. Prewett appeared in the 24th season of the series, with Peter Weber starring as the titular bachelor. In an interview with podcaster and “Full House” alum Candace Cameron Bure, Prewett admitted that she did not apply for the show, but rather her friends submitted an application on her behalf.

Madison ‘Judged’ Her Friends Who Watched ‘The Bachelor’

Before appearing on the show, Prewett did not watch “The Bachelor” and “judged” her friends who did. The beginning of her journey into the dating competition began one night when she attended a meeting with a small faith-based group.

“I come over for the small group, all my friends are watching ‘The Bachelor.’ We’re supposed to be opening up the Word of God and immediately, I’m judging them,” she said. She asked for the “trash TV” to be turned off and her friends responded with laughter, saying that she would be “so great to go on ‘The Bachelor.’”

“I would never go on a show like that,” Prewett responded–but her friends had other plans.

Madison’s Friends ‘Did the Whole Thing’

Later that night, Prewett’s friends went on to submit an application for “The Bachelor” without telling her.

“They sent in the pictures; they filled out the questionnaire. They did the whole thing,” she said. A few months later, she got a call from Los Angeles. When the caller told her that her application for “The Bachelor” was received, she “genuinely thought it was a prank call.”

Madison Turned to Family and Religion to Decide to Go on ‘The Bachelor’

After the “The Bachelor” team reached out, Prewett called her mother. Laughing, she assumed that her mother would tell her to say “no” to joining the show. However, she asked Prewett if she had prayed about the situation yet.

Surprised, Prewett decided to “take this to God, even though this feels like something God would not want me to do.” Alongside her family, she contemplated if she would appear on “The Bachelor.” Eventually, she decided that she would.

She “felt the peace to keep saying ‘yes’” despite having not even seen the show before. Prewett said that “the Lord was leading” her in making the choice. “Even though it truly made no sense,” the then-23-year-old made the leap to go on “The Bachelor.”

Madison Does Not Recommend ‘The Bachelor’

Despite her own appearance on “The Bachelor,” Prewett does not recommend joining the show. She explained that several people have told her that they want to apply to go on “The Bachelor.” She shut down this idea, responding that they should “absolutely not” apply to be a contestant.

“I would not let anyone that I know go on this show,” she quipped.
