Kate Middleton shared a personal lifestyle change she made following her cancer diagnosis during a recent outing in London.
The Princess of Wales spoke about the change while visiting Southwark Brewing Company on March 12 with Prince William. The couple toured several locations along the River Thames that day, meeting workers and highlighting local businesses.
While helping pour pints at the brewery, Princess Kate revealed she has significantly reduced one habit since her diagnosis.
Princess Kate Says She Drinks Less Alcohol After Cancer Diagnosis
The Princess of Wales opened up about the change while speaking with people during the visit.
According to royal editor Matt Wilkinson of The Sun, Princess Kate explained that she has become more mindful of her alcohol consumption.
“Since my diagnosis, I haven’t had much alcohol. It’s something I have to be a lot more conscious of now,” Princess Kate said during the outing.
She then turned to Prince William and joked about his preferred drink.
“But you like cider,” she added, referencing the Prince of Wales’ favorite beverage.
The comment came more than a year after the royal publicly shared news about her cancer treatment.
Kate Middleton Previously Announced Cancer Treatment and Remission
In March 2024, Princess Kate released a video message revealing she was undergoing treatment after doctors discovered cancer following abdominal surgery.
The announcement led her to step back from many royal duties while focusing on her health and recovery.
In September 2024, she confirmed that she had completed chemotherapy.
Several months later, in January 2025, the Princess of Wales announced she was in remission following an unannounced visit to The Royal Marsden Hospital in London. The visit also confirmed she had received treatment at the facility during her cancer journey.
Since announcing her remission, she has gradually resumed a more regular schedule of public engagements.
Princess of Wales Opens Up About Life After Cancer Treatment
Princess Kate has also spoken about the emotional and physical adjustments that can follow cancer treatment.
During a July 2025 visit to Colchester Hospital, she described the challenges that can occur once treatment ends.
“You put on a sort of brave face, stoicism through treatment,” the princess said, via People.
“Treatment’s done, then it’s like, ‘I can crack on, get back to normal,’ but actually, the phase afterwards is really, really difficult.”
She explained that returning to everyday life takes time.
“You have to find your new normal, and that takes time — and it’s a roller coaster, it’s not smooth, like you expect it to be,” she said.
“But the reality is you go through hard times.”
