“The View” cohost Alyssa Farah Griffin is officially a mother! The beloved host gave birth to her first child, a son, with husband Justin Patrick Griffin on Tuesday, February 10.
Whoopi Goldberg announced the exciting news on Wednesday’s show, saying, “The first thing we want to do is start by congratulating Alyssa and her husband, Justin, on the birth of their baby boy: Justin Patrick Griffin Jr.”
The “Sister Act” actress added, “He weighed in at 7 pounds and 19-and-a-half inches. Both mom and baby are doing well. I’m sure they’re tired, but they’re doing well.”
Alyssa Farah Griffin Excited to Become a Mom
Griffin was scheduled to host her final show before beginning maternity leave on Tuesday, February 10. However, she went into labor ahead of filming, Whoopi revealed.
“I am feeling ready to have a baby,” Griffin told executive producer Brian Teta during a Monday, February 9, appearance on the “Behind the Table” podcast. “I’m definitely in that period where it’s like it could happen at any time. We’ve got a plan. My in-laws get in, they get in tomorrow.”
She added, “This was my last weekend of my life not having children, which was such an interesting thought. I thought I might have a little bit of like, ‘Oh, am I going to miss this?’ No, I’m just so excited. I can’t wait to see him and smell him and just have him here.”
The new mom took to her Instagram Story after the news was revealed to share, “Justin Patrick Griffin Jr. arrived late last night. We’re overjoyed and so grateful for all the well wishes!”
Alyssa Farah Griffin Announced Her Pregnancy On Air
Griffin first announced that she was expecting her first child during an October episode.
During a segment where the cohosts were rehashing their “most embarrassing moments,” Griffin shared a clip from 2023 of a “viral moment” with Goldberg.
In the clip, Goldberg abruptly stops mid-sentence to ask Griffin if she is pregnant.
“No! Oh my God. You can’t say that when my mother-in-law is here,” Griffin responds in shock.
After the clip, Griffin rubbed her small baby bump and asked Goldberg, “So Whoopi, do you want to ask me again?”
She later told People that after “dealing with infertility” issues, she felt the need to wait to announce her pregnancy.
“The only reason I haven’t shared to this point is it was important to us to get through the 20-week appointment, which is the full anatomy, making sure everything’s developing right because you’re just higher risk, both with my age and with the infertility issues I’ve dealt with and [am] dealing with,” she told the outlet in October.
