Lucas West Audition
He is excited to be here tonight on “The Voice” season 29. Lucas seems to be a fan of John Legend, as he is a pianist too. For his audition, he sings “Bennie and the Jets” by Elton John. Lucas is playing the piano for this one. He gets Adam to turn quickly, then John joins him a little later. He does sound very good and has some good range. Lucas has a strong stage presence.
Coaches’ Feedback: Adam said he was blown away by how different he was. There has never been a Lucas, and that makes him want to fight for him. Kelly said she thinks he’ll go far. John is dropping name bombs. He said Lucas came out here playing the piano, but his vocals almost sound like Adam Levine.
Final Decision: Lucas picks to join Team Legend tonight!
Alexia Jayy
She gets emotional during the pre-video, saying this is for her son. He has seen her start and stop, but she has never given up. Now she is here on the voice, singing “A Natural Woman” by Aretha Franklin. Yes, she sings this one, and you can see how proud her son is backstage. She has such a strong, powerful, and soulful voice. She gets all three chairs to turn, as we have our first Triple Turn!
Coaches’ Feedback: John said she has it all. She not only has the raw ability, but she also knows how to deploy it. Adam said on paper, those two coaches make sense. Adam said maybe the way to go here is to go with someone people would least expect. Kelly said to come out on the stage and sing Aretha is such a big, bold statement. She said she could hear her belting out country. Her son comes out and says he listens to Maroon 5, which gets Adam pumped.
Final Decision: The first Triple Turn goes to Team Adam, so maybe her son played a big part!
Julia Golden on ‘The Voice’ 2026
She’s been watching this show since she was a kid. Julia is now here, and she is emotional to get this moment. For her audition, she sings “Strawberry Wine” by Deana Carter. It’s weird, but with these three coaches, Kelly seems to have the advantage when it comes to country artists. Julia does have a solid voice. She gets John and Kelly to hit their buttons for her.
Coaches’ Feedback: John said she has such a beautiful texture to her voice, and she can go far on this show. Kelly said she was busy singing with her. You have to be authentic and believable, and she felt that. John then shows a video of Reba McEntire saying that John would make a great coach for country artists. Kelly is ticked, so she CALLS Reba to yell at her, and Reba answers! Such a funny moment.
Final Decision: Julia said she has to go with her gut on this one, as she picks Team Kelly!
Abigayle Oakley
This one starts as a mystery, but after two seconds of singing, all three coaches hit their buttons for Abigayle. She sings “Call Your Girlfriend” by Robyn. This one was good. She was soft and sweet, but her voice was so good.
Coaches’ Feedback: Adam said she has a special thing that they all picked up on right away. Kelly said her superpower is her head voice. She’s got a special thing, and for this competition, pick songs people wouldn’t expect. John said “The Voice” is known for big singers and big belters, but there is always a lane for the more folky singer. They know an artist like her can do well on the show with great coaching.
Final Decision: The second Triple Turn winner is Kelly, as Abigayle picks to join Team Kelly.
Landon Price
He is 17 years old. Landon grew up singing in the church and was in the marching band. He comes out singing “Glory” by Common and John Legend, so no pressure here, right? His voice sounds very mature for his age. He is very good, but no one hits the button for him.
Coaches’ Feedback: Kelly said I thought he was a grown ass man! John said thanks for singing my song, and he made some bold choices. He’s kicking himself for not picking him after being only 17 years old. Adam said that another year goes by, and he comes back, they’ll all turn for him.
Jonah Mayor on ‘The Voice’
He sings with a boy band parody type group. They sing a bunch of boy band songs, but he is not singing a boy band song tonight. He is going big, as he sings the Italian song “Il Mondo” by Jimmy Fontana. Kelly turns around right away for him and she gets up out of her seat and enjoys the show. Adam joins her later on for this stellar performance. His voice is big and strong.
Coaches’ Feedback: She comes up and hugs him, saying it was so sexy and so good. Adam has to go hug him, too, just to be even. Adam said Jonah, you are super awesome, and we’ll do good things together. What he does is so singular, and there won’t be anyone like him. So much power in his voice. John said it was gorgeous and flawless. Kelly said he has this beautiful tone. Kelly and Adam are both FIGHTING for him, big time.
Final Decision: They both fought for him, but Jonah picked to join Team Kelly, so she is killing it tonight on “The Voice” season 29!
Bay Simpson
He is 26 years old and is related to Elvis Presley. He said he doesn’t bring it up much, but hasn’t stopped talking about it! Bay said he is a rocker and will be singing “The Waiting” by Tom Petty. He said there’s no Plan B for him, so this has to work out.
He has a good voice, but it doesn’t stand out to me. Nothing to put him above anyone else. A good singer who blends in. Adam waits until the last minute, but he hits the button for him right at the very end.
Coaches’ Feedback: Adam said that the song said something about him. The tone and the way he did parts of that vocal show that he knows rock and roll music. He is super happy he snuck in and got him at the end. Bay is joining Team Adam!
Liv Ciara
She auditioned during season 28, but didn’t get any coaches to turn for her. She said she’s been working hard since then to come back and get a chair turned. Now, she is back for season 29 and hoping to get one of these coaches to turn for her.
For her audition, she sings “we can’t be friends (wait for your love)” by Ariana Grande. That hard work has been paying off (and probably better song choice), as she gets Kelly and Adam to hit their button for her. She hits a big note towards the end that I thought would get John to turn, but no luck.
Coaches’ Feedback: Adam said her voice is so mature and developed, it made them turn for her. But she is young and can be worked with. Kelly said she loves that song and loves how she flipped it. John said he is impressed by her story of coming back. Adam said that, as wonderful as Kelly would be as a coach, he would be more wonderful.
Final Decision: No doubt about this one, but Liv picked to join Team Kelly.
Aaron LaVigne
He has been working on Broadway, but he wants to pursue a solo career. He said the stakes are high tonight. Aaron sings “Feels Like The First Time” by Foreigner. I think he has a good voice, and clearly does if he is starring on Broadway. However, I think this was a bad song choice for him. It’s slow, but he hits some big notes at the end and gets Kelly and John to turn for him.
Coaches’ Feedback: Adam said respect for singing that song. Kelly said she has no one like him. He is bold, and you can tell he loves singing, which is perfect for Team Kelly. John said his voice has a gentleness to it. He was worried it wouldn’t cut through, but he was belting it out at the end. John starred in “Jesus Christ Superstar,” so that connection there.
Final Decision: Aaron references a moment at the Olympics and Celine Dion and Kelly’s reaction, but that was his same reaction. Because of that, he is picking to join Team Kelly!
AJ Robinson
For this one, AJ sings “Watermelon Moonshine” by Lainey Wilson. John Legend hits his button pretty quickly. AJ has a good voice, but you can hear he is a young kid. He is 14 years old, but he’s got a coach because no one else hit their button for him. He was born the year “The Voice” came out!
Coaches’ Feedback: Kelly said more breath control, he will be on key more. Adam said Blake Shelton has ruined him. John said he has been scarred by trying to get a country artist on his team. He loved his tone and loves how his voice floats. He is ready for him to do well on the show, as AJ joins Team Legend.
Jeremy Keith on ‘The Voice’
He started singing for the R&B group After 7 as a backup last year. One of the leads dropped out, so they asked him to take over. Now he is here on “The Voice” season 29 to prove himself as a solo artist. He definitely has that R&B vibe and tone to his voice. He is so strong and such a solid singer. Jeremy has a strong stage presence, and I like him.
Coaches’ Feedback: John said his tone was silky smooth. Adam said John makes the most sense. He is no longer a background singer because he is so incredibly good. He believes he is beyond special. Kelly said she can hand him any song. To know how to pick songs is huge in a competition setting. John gets up there and sings with Jeremy, so it seems like a done deal for him!
Final Decision: He thinks about this one, and shocks everyone as he joins Team Adam!
