Remembering Her Life & Career

Born and raised in Sydney, Lillye spent decades performing around the world, sharing the stage with rock legends such as Gene Simmons of KISS, Richie Kotzen of Poison, and Gilby Clarke of Guns N’ Roses.

Many Australians came to know and love her from Season 9 of “The Voice Australia” in 2020, where she competed on Boy George’s team and advanced to the top 20. Known for her powerhouse vocals and magnetic stage presence, Lillye captivated audiences with her energy and authenticity.

Her Brave Battle with Ovarian Cancer

In June 2023, Lillye’s life took a difficult turn when she was diagnosed with stage three ovarian cancer. Speaking with the Daily Mail that year, she described the disease as “a silent cancer that doesn’t make its appearance known until it’s stage three.”

“Ovarian cancer doesn’t get as much attention as other cancers,” she said. “It’s a sneaky cancer with the symptoms coming on late in the diagnosis. There needs to be more awareness in society. More funds need to be raised to help find an earlier diagnosis.”

Lillye was in Israel with her husband, Julian, when she first began experiencing severe stomach pains. After returning home to Sydney, doctors confirmed the devastating diagnosis. She underwent multiple rounds of chemotherapy and endured complications, including sepsis and staph infections.

“She lost her hair in the initial round of chemo, prompting her husband to cut off his own long locks in solidarity,” her family shared. Despite her struggles, she continued to advocate for cancer awareness and early detection.

Lillye’s life stood as a testament to courage, talent, and unwavering resilience. Friends, fans, and fellow musicians continue to celebrate her as a radiant performer who “brought joy to everyone she met.”

“There is no early detection test for ovarian cancer,” Lillye once shared, using her voice to spread awareness. “Around 70 percent of cases are diagnosed at advanced stages when it has already spread.”

Her message of hope and advocacy continues to inspire many, a lasting legacy for a woman who used her voice not only to sing but to make a difference.
