‘My 600-Lb. Life’ Star Dolly Martinez’s Sister Speaks Out After Her Passing: ‘She Deserves Kindness’

Beloved TLC star Dolly Martinez, who appeared on “My 600-Lb. Life,” is being remembered by her family for who she was beyond the screen. After her passing at 30, her sister Lindsey Cooper shared a heartfelt message on Facebook, gently asking for compassion and understanding as she navigates the devastating loss.

Family Urges Compassion While Calling Out Hurtful Online Comments

“My Facebook is my safe space, a place where I can share what’s on my heart. I’m allowed to grieve my sister, Dolly, here. I know many people knew her from a show or TikTok, and that’s OK but please remember, there’s so much more to her than what was seen online or on TV,” she wrote. “She was my sister first. She deserves peace, and she deserves kindness.”

In the same message, Cooper also addressed the hurtful comments directed at her and her late sister, sharing how difficult it has been to face criticism while grieving.

“And to everyone online being cruel and mean and attacking not only dolly who can no longer defend herself but me and my family. From the bottom of my soul and as disrespectfully as possible [Expletive] all the way off.”

She went on to respond to remarks about her own appearance and health, opening up about her personal challenges.

“Oh and yes for those pointing out how im just as fat or saying I’m the next to go in the family just know I have chronic health problems and [mental] health issues and I take meds that cause me to gain weight and I’m working on getting the weight off. But that’s not for you to point out,” she concluded. “Thanks for coming to my ted talk.”

Dolly Martinez Remembered as a Warm and Loving Presence

Cooper first shared the news of her sister’s passing in a deeply personal tribute, remembering the warmth and light she brought to the lives of those around her.

“It is with a heavy heart that I share the passing of my beautiful sister, Dolly,” she wrote. “Dolly had the brightest personality she could light up any room with her laughter, her kindness, and her loving spirit. She had a way of making everyone feel special, and her warmth will stay with us forever.”

She continued by reflecting on the loss with both grief and comfort.

“While our hearts are broken here, I find comfort in knowing she is now reunited with our dad in heaven. I can only imagine the joy of that reunion. Rest peacefully, Dolly. You will always be loved, always be missed, and never forgotten.”

Recent Health Struggles and Final Days

Martinez gained popularity when she appeared on “My 600-Lb. Life,” where she shared her personal health journey with viewers.

At the time, she weighed just under 600 pounds and relied on supplemental oxygen. After moving to Houston to seek care from bariatric specialist Dr. Now, she lost around 40 pounds, though she was ultimately not approved for surgery.

In the days leading up to her passing, Cooper had revealed that her sister was hospitalized and in critical condition, asking for prayers as the family faced an uncertain moment.

“Today is national siblings day and it for sure was a hard one,” she wrote. “I haven’t made any post or let many [people] know but my sister Dolly is in the hospital and is fighting for her life. At this time I ask for prayers and privacy as we as a family navigate through this hard time.”

As her family continues to mourn, Cooper’s words reflect a gentle reminder to lead with compassion and to remember the person behind the headlines.
