‘Welcome to Plathville’: 5 Fast Facts About the Plath Brothers — Ethan Plath, Micah Plath, and Isaac Plath

The Plath brothers began filming for TLC in 2019, after their family landed the show “Welcome to Plathville.” The series introduced viewers to Kim and Barry Plath’s ultra-conservative household. The couple raised their eight children with strict Christian values and limited exposure to the outside world.

In the years since, fans have watched that dynamic shift as the family moved away from those beliefs and began embracing a more modern lifestyle. Now, seven years later, Ethan, Micah, and Isaac are living very different lives from the ones viewers first saw on screen.

With that in mind, here are five fast facts about the Plath brothers.

1. The Plath Brothers Have Complicated Relationship Histories

To say the Plath brothers have complicated relationships would be an understatement. And not just with romantic partners, but with each other. During Season 7 of “Welcome to Plathville,” Isaac actually sent his older brother, Micah, to the emergency room.

The brothers got into a physical altercation at their sister’s wedding. Lydia Plath tied the knot with her husband, Zac Wyse, in February 2025. Emotions were already running high on the wedding day, as the Plath brothers made it clear they did not like Zac and wanted their sister to wait a little longer before getting married. However, that’s not actually the reason that Micah wound up in the ER.

The real reason Isaac threw a punch was because of the drama that broke out between the girlfriends of the Plath brothers. At the time of Lydia’s wedding, Ethan was dating Teegan, Micah was dating Veronica, and Isaac was dating Kaylynn.

Emotionally fueled, Veronica was already upset before the wedding day arrived. She accused Teegan of having an OF, which was later proven to be unfounded. Furthermore, she accused Micah of trying to look at Teegan’s OF. As a result, Veronica wanted nothing to do with Teegan at Lydia and Zac’s wedding.

As fans have seen, Kaylynn and Teegan look quite similar. So, when Veronica saw Micah walking with Isaac and Kaylynn, she had some choice words, believing Micah was hanging out with Teegan. After hearing Veronica talk negatively about his girlfriend (who she thought was Teegan), Isaac confronted Micah, which led to a serious physical altercation.

Micah received multiple stitches at the ER and eventually needed a nose job to repair some of the damage caused by his little brother. In a turn of events, the Plath brothers and their mother, Kim, confronted Veronica the next morning. Essentially, they placed all the blame for the fight on her. As a result, fans witnessed Veronica and Micah break up on camera after dating for nearly two years.

2. Ethan Plath Was the First to Break Away From the Family’s Strict Rules

While Ethan Plath was not directly involved in the physical altercation that transpired between his younger brothers, he is no stranger to relationship drama. As the oldest Plath sibling, Ethan was the first to break away from Barry and Kim’s strict family rules, which was not easy given how sheltered he was growing up. The person who helped Ethan get out from under his parents’ thumb the most was his first wife, Olivia.

Ethan and Olivia got married in 2018, before “Welcome to Plathville” began airing on TLC. However, the couple’s wedding was filmed and televised during Season 1, as were their early months of marriage. As viewers will remember, Ethan actually stopped talking to Barry and Kim altogether after a Season 2 confrontation about how his parents were treating Olivia.

While Olivia did help Ethan stand up to his parents and find his voice, the two soon discovered they wanted different things out of life. Olivia and Ethan eventually announced their separation in October 2023 and later filed for divorce in February 2024. Despite his divorce still not being finalized, Ethan hard-launched his relationship with Teegan Nichols in January 2025.

3. Micah Plath Left Home to Pursue a Modeling Career

The second-oldest Plath brother and the third child of Kim and Barry, Micah has also forged his own path, stepping away from the traditions of his childhood. During Season 4, viewers watched as Micah moved from his small hometown in Georgia to Los Angeles, California.

Micah headed out west to pursue a career in modeling. After a couple of years in California, Micah matched with Veronica Peters on a dating app. A real estate agent, Veronica lived in her hometown of Boca Raton, Florida, making a living selling houses. Viewers will remember that Micah relocated to Florida to be closer to Veronica during Season 6.

Micah and Veronica’s relationship was portrayed as tumultuous on “Welcome to Plathville.” As a result, fans were not surprised to see the couple go their separate ways during Season 7.

4. Isaac Plath Is a Pilot and Farmer

The youngest of the three Plath brothers, Isaac, was only 13 when “Welcome to Plathville” first premiered on TLC. As a result, viewers have watched Isaac transform from a sheltered child into a confident young adult.

Isaac began taking pilot lessons during Season 4. His flight instructor was Ken Palmer. Kim Plath began dating Ken after her separation from Barry in 2022.

Along with being a private pilot, the 20-year-old is a crop farmer in Georgia. Isaac introduced viewers to his girlfriend, Kaylynn, whom he affectionately calls “Pookie,” during Season 7.

5. The Plaths Lost Their Fourth Brother in 2008

While most “Welcome to Plathville” fans know the three Plath brothers featured on the show, many don’t realize there were once four brothers. In total, Barry and Kim had four sons: Ethan (1998), Micah (2001), Isaac (2005), and Joshua (2007).

The youngest Plath brother, Joshua Samuel, was born on April 15, 2007. Following a tragic accident on the family farm, Joshua passed away at just 17 months old on September 19, 2008. The Plath siblings were all quite young when Joshua passed, with Ethan being the oldest at just 10 years old. The loss has remained a significant part of their family’s story.

Fans can catch up with the Plath brothers on Season 8 of “Welcome to Plathville,” which is set to premiere on March 31, 2026.
