Chuck Norris’ First Wife Dianne Holechek: The Woman Who Shared 30 Years With the Action Legend

Chuck Norris’ first wife, Dianne Kay Holechek, shared more than three decades of marriage with the martial arts legend during the early years of his career.

Norris, the actor known for films including “The Delta Force” and “Missing in Action” and the television series “Walker, Texas Ranger,” died Thursday morning in Hawaii, according to TMZ. His family confirmed the news in a statement, sharing that he passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones.

As fans reflect on Norris’ career and life, many are revisiting the story of Holechek, the woman who stood by him through his rise from a martial arts competitor to a Hollywood action star.


Chuck Norris Met His First Wife, Dianne Holechek, as Teenagers

Norris met Holechek while they were students at North High School in Torrance, California.

The couple began dating in the mid-1950s and married in 1958 when Norris was 18 and Holechek was 17.

In a 1985 interview, Norris reflected on how young they were when their relationship began.

“We went together for almost two years, and she was 15 when I started dating her,” Norris said. “I was 16 at the time, and then I married her when she was 17.”

Before their wedding, Norris even got a tattoo of Holechek’s name on his arm during a night out with friends.

Their marriage would last for 30 years.


Norris and Holechek Raised Two Sons Together

During their marriage, Norris and Holechek welcomed two children: sons Mike and Eric Norris.

Their first child, Mike, was born in 1962, followed by Eric in 1965.

At the same time, Norris was building his reputation as a martial artist and beginning to gain recognition in film and television. Holechek was also pursuing her own career and reportedly opened a successful restaurant in California.

Both of their sons later entered the entertainment world.

Mike followed in his father’s footsteps as a stuntman and actor, appearing in films such as “Rush Hour 3,” “The Crossroads of Hunter Wilde,” and “Where the Heart Is.”

Eric pursued a career in racing before transitioning into film production and stunt coordination.


Chuck Norris Later Learned He Had a Daughter

During the early years of his marriage, Norris had an affair with a woman named Johanna while serving in the United States Air Force.

According to Norris’ 2004 memoir “Against All Odds,” he did not initially disclose that he was married.

Years later, in 1991, Johanna’s daughter Dina contacted Norris claiming he was her biological father.

The two eventually met and began building a relationship.

Chuck Norris and Dianne Holechek Divorced After 30 Years

Norris and Holechek separated in 1988 and finalized their divorce in 1989 after 30 years of marriage.

Despite the split, Norris later shared that they remained close.

In a 1985 interview, Norris credited the success of their marriage to Holechek traveling with him during his work.

“She travels with me,” he said. “If you go separate ways, then you know something’s going to happen.”

Even after their divorce, the two maintained a friendly relationship while co-parenting their children.


Chuck Norris Remembered Dianne Holechek After Her Death

Holechek died in December 2025 at the age of 84 after living with dementia.

Norris announced the news on Facebook and reflected on their lasting friendship.

“After being married for 30 years, we were able to find a way to remain close friends, and those years of friendship meant the world to me,” Norris wrote.

He continued, “Even as our lives took different directions, we continued to care deeply for one another, and I will forever cherish the memories we built together.”

Norris also praised Holechek as a devoted parent.

“Dianne was an incredible person,” he wrote. “She was kind, intelligent, and lived life to the fullest.”

Their son Mike also spoke about her passing, telling TMZ that she died peacefully at her home in Texas.

“We are thankful she is no longer suffering,” Mike said. “She was the best, the greatest mom. We were so lucky to have her.”
