Seth Rogen Dedicates His BAFTA Win to Late Catherine O’Hara in Moving Tribute

Seth Rogen had a BAFTA in his hands on Sunday night. The first person he thought of was late movie legend, Catherine O’Hara. The comedian and filmmaker accepted the BAFTA TV Award for Best International Series for “The Studio” at a ceremony in London, taking a moment before the laughter and the jokes to say the name that mattered most.

When Rogen reached the podium, he did not go straight to the jokes. He went straight to her.

“I’d be remiss not to mention one of the key parts of the show, Catherine O’Hara,” he said, holding the trophy steady, as per Variety. “She meant so much to all of us.”

He looked out at the London crowd and finished the thought. “I assume her work has been so important to you all over here as it was to us. So this is for Catherine.”

In “The Studio” she played producer Patty Leigh with the kind of layered brilliance that only she could bring.

The performance earned her an Emmy nomination and reminded everyone watching exactly why she was one of the most beloved actresses of her generation.

Her credits spanned decades and genres, from “Home Alone” to “Beetlejuice” to “Schitt’s Creek,” where she won multiple awards for playing the most iconic & unforgettable Moira Rose.

O’Hara died in January at 71.

The tribute to O’Hara came after Rogen made clear he was genuinely caught off guard by the win.

“I really didn’t expect that to happen at all,” he told the audience. “And when you make a comedy, and you’re up against dramas, especially, it feels really good to beat them. I have to say, it doesn’t happen that often. It’s a rare, rarefied thing.”

The room erupted. Rogen was clearly in his element, warm and funny and completely himself on one of television’s biggest stages. “This award show is so cool,” he said. “Thank you for having us here.”

Rogen is not the kind of person who gets through a speech without at least one unforgettable moment. Sunday night was no exception.

Earlier in the evening, “The Celebrity Traitors” contestant Celia Imrie had taken the stage and reminded the audience of one of the most talked-about moments from her time on the show.

During filming, Imrie had accidentally passed gas in front of her fellow cast members, prompting host Claudia Winkleman to ask what had happened. “I just farted, Claudia. It’s nerves, but I always own up,” Imrie had replied, sending her castmates into hysterics.

Rogen brought it back up with perfect comic timing. “I assume this woman in a green dress is a very talented woman,” he said, as reported by Variety, gesturing toward Imrie. “All I know is that she farted on a reality show.”

The crowd loved every second of it.
