Production on Season 2 of Apple TV+’s hit comedy ‘The Studio’ has resumed, as cast members returned to filming in Venice weeks after the death of beloved star Catherine O’Hara.

‘The Studio’ Season 2 Starts Filming After Catherine O’Hara’s Passing
Photos published by JustJared suggest the new season will feature additional star power, with actors Michael Keaton and Julia Garner spotted on set during filming.
The Hollywood-satire series follows the inner workings of a struggling movie studio trying to balance artistic ambition with the realities of the modern entertainment business. Rogen stars as Matt Remick, the newly appointed head of fictional Continental Studios who hopes to revive the company’s creative legacy.
Bryan Cranston reprises his role as Griffin Mill, the studio’s ruthless CEO, who frequently clashes with Remick’s vision for filmmaking.
Season 2 comes after the first installment became one of the most talked-about comedies of 2025, earning critical praise and major awards recognition. The show previously featured cameos from major Hollywood figures including Charlize Theron, Martin Scorsese, Olivia Wilde, Zac Efron and Zoë Kravitz.
Earlier this year, Rogen hinted that additional celebrity appearances may be coming.
“This is a good poaching ground for us,” he joked at the Golden Globes. “We’ve literally written some things that happened leading up to this award show into episodes as we’ve been writing the show.”
Seth Rogen & ‘The Studio’ Cast Pay Tribute to Catherine O’Hara After Her Death
The start of production earlier this year was overshadowed by the death of Catherine O’Hara, who played Patty Leigh, the former head of Continental Studios and a mentor figure to Rogen’s character.
The acclaimed actress passed away on Jan. 30 at age 71 from a pulmonary embolism caused by rectal cancer.
Following the news, the show’s cast and creators released a joint statement expressing their grief. “We are all heartbroken by the loss of Catherine O’Hara.”
The statement continued, “An undeniable legend, icon, and incomparable talent, Catherine elevated every project she was a part of, including the singular genius she brought to her role on ‘The Studio,’ and every transcendent performance she gifted to us.”
O’Hara’s performance on the series was widely praised and earned her a posthumous award for Outstanding Performance by a Female Actor in a Comedy Series. Co-star Seth Rogen accepted the honor on her behalf, delivering an emotional tribute to the late actress.
