Seth Rogen Pens Emotional Tribute to His Dear Costar Following Her Passing

The tragic news of Catherine O’Hara’s passing came on January 30, 2026. The beloved “Home Alone” star was 71. Now, following her death, many of her industry friends and fans alike have taken to social media to pay tribute to her legacy. One of the most notable came from Seth Rogen, with whom she stars in Apple TV+’s “The Studio.”

Rogen reacted to the sad news on his official Instagram account. He said, “Really don’t know what to say… I told O’Hara when I first met her, I thought she was the funniest person I’d ever had the pleasure of watching on screen. Home Alone was the movie that made me want to make movies.”

Getting to work with her was a true honour. She was hysterical, kind, intuitive, generous… she made me want to make our show good enough to be worthy of her presence in it. This is just devastating. We’re all lucky we got to live in a world with her in it.”


Not Much Is Known About Catherine O’Hara’s Passing

According to US Weekly, O’Hara passed away on the morning of January 30 in Los Angeles. Her talent agency confirmed to the outlet that the “Home Alone” star died “following a brief illness.”

Page Six confirmed other details in the matter. According to the outlet, the Los Angeles Fire Department was called to her home for an incident at around 4:48 a.m. The report stated that she was in “serious” condition at the time.

It’s unclear what the reported illness was, or how long O’Hara may have been suffering from it. She leaves behind her husband, Bo Welch, and two sons, Matthew and Luke.
