Fans Thrilled About Scott Wolf’s Return to TV After Tough Summer: ‘Grateful’

Fans of “Party of Five” alum and Hallmark fan favorite Scott Wolf are cheering on the actor and dad of three over news that he will soon return to FOX’s “Doc” and even direct an episode of the hit show.

The positive news, first reported by Variety on September 30, 2025, is a breath of fresh air for Wolf’s fans after months of tough headlines regarding his surprise split from his wife of 21 years, Kelley Wolf, and her personal struggles since their June 10 announcement.

Scott Wolf Says He’s ‘Grateful’ to Be Back on ‘Doc’

Scott starred as Dr. Richard Miller in all 10 episodes of the first season of “Doc,” which premiered in January with record-breaking ratings. But after his character, the Chief of Internal Medicine at Westside Hospital, was fired in the season finale, he has not appeared in the first episodes of season two. Felicity Huffman has joined the cast, playing the new Chief of Internal Medicine.

But Scott, who also broke ratings records with Lacey Chabert in 2023’s “A Merry Scottish Christmas,” will return to the series “in a multi-episode guest arc” later in the 22-episode season, per Variety, and will direct an episode to air in early 2026.

In a statement, co-executive producers Barbie Kligman and Hank Steinberg said, “We always knew when Richard got fired that would never be the last of him. But no one expected him to come back to Westside like this — least of all Amy.”

Scott made a rare but brief appearance on social media in light of the news, sharing Fox’s post about his return in his Instagram Stories on September 30, writing “Grateful.”

Someone else exclaimed, “🙌 Omg so happy!!! Well deserved! 🙏🙏🙏”

Many fans breathed a sigh of relief over the news of Scott’s return, following nearly four months of dealing with grave challenges stemming from his breakup. One fan wrote on his Instagram update, “So good to hear. Hope your personal life has calmed down and the kids are ok. All the best to u”

Days after his split from Kelley, Scott was awarded sole custody of their three kids and has also been granted restraining orders and protective orders since. Kelley has been placed under two involuntary holds and faces four misdemeanor charges connected to sharing personal information about Scott and their children on social media.

On September 30, the same day Scott’s return to “Doc” was announced, TMZ reported that Kelley didn’t show up for a scheduled court hearing in Summit County, Utah, where the family has lived for years.

According to the outlet, the judge said that Kelley was “unable to attend” her hearing regarding multiple misdemeanor charges because she’d checked into a mental health facility. Prosecutor Wendy Crossland added that she “believes” Kelley is in treatment, per People, and said, “I have not otherwise had any other contact with Miss Wolf.”

If Kelley is seeking help, it would be the second time in a month she’s checked into a treatment facility. She previously checked into a center in early September, People reported, but only stayed for two days.

According to the outlet, the Scotts’ next divorce hearing is set for October 23, and Kelley has also “received a summons to appear in court on November 7 regarding her latest arrest.”
