As the search for Nancy Guthrie continues, new theories offer insight into what the suspect may have been carrying in his pocket and backpack during the abduction.
In surveillance photos released by the FBI, the masked man is seen wearing a jacket with an object protruding from his pocket, sparking speculation about what it might be.
NewsNation senior correspondent Brian Entin spoke with former CIA officer and FBI special agent Tracy Walder, who shared her insights on the mysterious item.
Entin shared that some people reached out to him, suggesting it might be the antenna of a walkie-talkie, while others believe it could be a signal jammer.
Ex-CIA Officer Weighs In on Suspect’s Items During Nancy Guthrie Abduction
Walder noted that the walkie-talkie theory makes sense, especially if there’s a getaway vehicle involved.
“That would be a way. Obviously, you wouldn’t want to use a cell phone,” Walder explained on “Brian Entin Investigates”. “That would be a way in a short range to communicate with someone, to, you know, bring a car to a certain location.”
Walder added that a walkie-talkie fits the scenario if the suspect didn’t bring a cellphone, which she believes to be the case.
“I don’t think he did bring a cellphone,” the former CIA officer explained. “I think we would have him by now if he did.”
As for the signal jammer, Walder said it’s also a possibility, but noted that the suspect doesn’t appear to bring any devices with him.
Chilling Theory on What’s Inside the Backpack
In the same interview, Entin pointed out the suspect’s backpack appears to be full. Walder suggested that the bag might have things to “subdue” Nancy Guthrie.
“I think again, you know, just my hypothesis, that he is arriving with things to subdue her,” Walder further explained. “Maybe even, you know, blankets or tarps to put her in.”
She continued, “I don’t want to seem overly morbid or graphic, but, you know, things like zip ties, tape, things to subdue her. That’s what I think is in the backpack.”
On February 24, Savannah Guthrie accepted the possibility that Nancy “may already be gone.”
“We also know that she may be lost; she may already be gone. She may already have gone home to the Lord that she loves, and is dancing in heaven with her mom and her dad and her beloved brother, Pierce, and with our daddy,” the “Today” host said in part. “And if this is what is to be, then we will all accept it. But we need to know where she is. We need her to come home.”
Nancy Guthrie went missing from her home on the morning of February 1st.
