Christina Applegate Was Torn Between DATING 2 ’90s Heartthrobs: Who She Chose at the Time

Former “Married With Children” star Christina Applegate admits she was torn between her feelings for two 1990s icons, Brad Pitt and Sebastian Bach. In her memoir, she reveals how her heart led her to choose one over the other.

In an excerpt from “You With the Sad Eyes,” as reprinted by Page Six, Applegate revealed she was in a relationship with Pitt in the late 1980s. However, she didn’t expect to also fall hard for rock and roller Bach, lead singer of the heavy metal band Skid Row.

In 1989, the 17-year-old television star was a presenter at the 1989 MTV Video Music Awards and brought Pitt as her date. But once she laid eyes on Bach, she was a goner.

What Did Christina Applegate Say About Choosing Sebastian Back Over Brad Pitt?

In an excerpt from “You With the Sad Eyes,” Christina Applegate revealed she was transfixed by Sebastian Bach. He and Skid Row were event attendees.

“I had spent all night staring at Bach, who was then a long-haired hunk fronting the band Skid Row,” Applegate wrote. “I hate to put it like this, but Brad back then was still making his way as an actor, and he wasn’t yet THE Brad Pitt, the man of so many people’s dreams.”

She continued, “And it gets worse: Brad was left to sullenly drive my mom … home. Apparently, at a gas station on the way, Brad almost got into a fight with a bunch of gang members, and, not surprisingly, was subsequently very mad at me.”

According to Applegate, bad feelings lingered for several years for the “F1” star. She wrote, “Much later … two of [Pitt’s] movie star girlfriends asked me if it was true that I was the girl who left Brad behind at the MTV Video Music Awards. Brad had apparently told both of them separately that he was still mad at me.”

She concluded, “Eventually, we agreed that I’d been a kid. Though he deserved much better, it was time to forgive the child who dumped him for the lead singer of Skid Row.”

Just two years after his relationship with Applegate ended, Pitt played small-time crook J.D. in the film “Thelma and Louise.” This performance would cement his status as an up-and-coming leading man.

Christina Applegate’s Memoir Shares a Positive Message to Her Younger Self

After an almost 40-year career, Christina Applegate now looks at life with the wisdom of experience behind her. In her memoir, she hopes her younger self can move on.

“For so much of my life, I’ve felt like the good underlies the bad. But something strange has happened, something I’m not used to. I won’t lie anymore, be the good girl, and say that any of this is a blessing. But there’s some shred of self-understanding that continues to slowly emerge as I tell the story of these past fifty or so years,” Applegate wrote.

She concluded, “I want to talk to that little girl who always thought she had to be perfect. Maybe that’s what this book is.”

In 2021, Christina Applegate revealed she had a diagnosis of Multiple Sclerosis. One year later, she received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. The ceremony was attended by her “Married With Children” co-stars, David Faustino and Katey Sagal.

She’s married to musician Martyn LeNoble. They have one daughter, Sadie Grace LeNoble.
