Christina Applegate has been bravely speaking about her health in multiple interviews, and she recently shared how she has already been making preparations for when she dies. The actress, who is celebrated for her roles in “Don’t Tell Mom the Babysitter’s Dead,” “Married with Children,” and more recently, “Dead to Me,” continues to battle multiple sclerosis, and she feels her death is “looming.”
Christina Applegate Reveals Her Decision to Buy Burial Plots
In a March 19 episode of NPR’s “Wild Card With Rachel Martin” podcast, Applegate said that death is “looming,” Us Weekly reports. She continued, “I mean, it looms for all of us.” She also revealed that she thinks about death “every day.” Despite the fact that death happens for everyone, Applegate, who was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in 2021, feels that her disease makes her life more uncertain.
“But for people who have a disease like this, you never know, you know?” she said. “I bought my plots already, OK? I bought them.” She also purchased a plot for two other loved ones, but she did not share who they were. “There’s going to be three of us there. But I did,” she said. “My friend and I are going to go take a picnic there. It’s really pretty where it is.”
She continued, “I have to pick my tree out ’cause they’re going to plant a tree there ’cause it’s really sunny,” she said. “And I want my visitors to not be sweating.” Choosing a burial plot is a big step, but it has been clear to Applegate that she wanted this particular place, and when it finally became available, she felt she had to jump at the opportunity.
She added, “Just buy it now. That way, nobody has to deal with it.”
Christina Applegate Shares Her Life
Applegate has been opening up about multiple aspects of her life in her memoir, “You with the Sad Eyes,” released in March 2026. A week ago, she thanked fans for their support by posting a photo of the book on Instagram. “I wrote this book with the hope that people would feel less alone. Thank you for reading, sharing, and making that a reality. I’m so grateful,” she wrote in the caption.
“The audiobook deserves an Oscar and Grammy!! So so freakin good,” a comment reads. “Congratulations!!! A lot of people do not understand that living with chronic pain is physically and emotionally exhausting. By sharing your story, you are speaking for all of us, so thank you,” another person shared.

Good for you to plan ahead! I lost my husband on New Years Eve to cancer. He passed 2&1/2 months after his diagnosis. Actually was playing golf when he found out. Thankfully, his former employer left me with a funeral benefit that not only covers his burial but also mine. Now my sister will not have to worry about it when the time comes. God bless you & praying things will turn around for you. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻❤️
Really sad. A terrible disease. Living thru it for years, can take a toll on the caregiver. We will always remember you from “Married With Children” she is adorable when she does comedy with her friends. Good luck in your journey and keep your dignity and strength. That’s how that generation will remember you.
