Christina Applegate’s Costar Shares Update About Her MS Battle

Christina Applegate has been battling with her health since she announced her MS (Multiple sclerosis) diagnosis in 2021, and now one of her former costars is speaking out about how he’s trying to be a supportive friend, and how she’s currently doing.

The 54-year-old’s “Married With Children” costar, David Faustino, recently spoke to Extra about how Applegate is currently handling her diagnosis. He revealed, “She’s getting through it with humor. She’s very sarcastic, very dry. Always has been, and continues to be. And she still makes me laugh.”

Faustino was seen at Applegate’s side, along with their costar Katey Sagal, as the actress received her star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in November 2022. She told the crowd while accepting the honor, “I can’t stand for too long. This day means more to me than you can possibly imagine.”

David Faustino Said He Talks to Christina Applegate Often

“We talk often. She’s helped me with a lot of things in my life, and I’m hoping I’m being there for her,” Faustino said in the Extra interview.

“Married With Children” ran on Fox for an astounding 11 seasons from the late 80s to late 90s, and Faustino excitedly looked ahead to the cast reunion he’d planned for January 28. He said, “I’m DJing a set, B-Real of Cypress Hill is DJing, we have all kinds of ‘Married With Children’ cast memorabilia that we’re gonna be raffling off. Should be a good night. It’s gonna be a lot of fun.”

David Faustino Talked About How Pulled Off ‘Married With Children’ Reunion

David Faustino said it wasn’t hard getting his TV dad Ed O’Neal onboard with the production. He explained, “When I told him that we’d be onstage, telling stories, talking about our past he was like ‘Okay, I like that.’ As soon as he fell in line, I had to get the ladies onboard.”

However, the actor said it wasn’t quite as simple getting Applegate, who played Kelly Bundy, to agree. He said, “Christina was the toughest, but she’s onboard now, too. I think they’re all excited.” He says Applegate selected Race to Erase MS as the foundation to receive the proceeds, and added “the medicines and drugs they’ve come out with from their research have been life-changing.”

Applegate rarely makes public appearances since her MS diagnosis has affected her ability to attend events. In May 2025, she told Conan O’Brien, “I don’t really leave the house anymore. If people saw what my life was like on the daily, they wouldn’t be able to do it. Because I can sometimes not do it. It’s really, really hard.”
