HGTV alum Nicole Curtis is ready to move on from the controversy that led to her show, “Rehab Addict,” being canceled.
The reality star shared an update on her next career move two months after HGTV pulled the plug on her hit show.
Nicole Curtis’ Next Career Move
HGTV cut ties with Curtis in February after a behind-the-scenes video surfaced, showing the host using a racial slur while filming.
After an apology tour, Curtis shared the next steps in her career via her email newsletter on Thursday, April 16.
“It’s been the Twilight Zone over here. From media reports, you would think my world ended, but if you know me, as all of you on this email do, you know that the value of my life was never placed on a show,” Curtis wrote, according to TV Insider. “My past few months, my heartache wasn’t due to this bs, but a real life problem.”
According to Curtis, her purpose in launching “Rehab Addict” more than a decade ago was “to bring awareness to historic preservation, troll corrupt council members, mayors and other elected officials for being greedy in the name of progress and lastly, to formalize my motto that knowledge brings understanding and if I teach it, maybe some will follow.”
In an effort to continue sharing her projects with fans after being axed by HGTV, Curtis hinted at relaunching her YouTube channel.
“We dug up my old YouTube channel and you can subscribe there as my guys have things in motion. (and by things, I mean house episodes, Behind the scenes and anything else they conjure up from my days of really being on a job site as I have been for 30 + years -not just to pretend on TV),” she wrote, per TV Insider. “If you want to check it out-there’s some old videos from Dollar houses on there. And the shows are still airing on a lot of streaming networks like ROKU and Apple TV.”
Curtis’ last YouTube video was shared in October 2016.
Nicole Curtis Apologized
Curtis issued a statement to TMZ shortly after the leaked footage began to circulate.
“I want to be clear: the word in question is wrong and not part of my vocabulary and never has been, and I apologize to everyone,” she said at the time. “I’m grateful for the 15-year journey we’ve shared. It’s been a meaningful chapter, but my focus isn’t on my career. My focus, at this moment is rightfully on my relationships, and my community — the people who truly know my character and where my heart is.”
She later appeared on “The Breakfast Club” podcast where she again explained the situation.
“I don’t have, I don’t have a rhyme or reason of the words that I make up. Like I say I say nonsense stuff all the time,” she said during her March 10 appearance. “I’m off the cuff. I’m not scripted.”
She added, “I apologize. To everyone out there, Charlamagne, so you are away, that is a word that I do not condone. So the people out there, do not use me as an example. I made a mistake. I know I made a mistake. You watch that footage…You know that I [am sorry].”

I don’t know what the comment was nor do I even care. I do know for sure that my two favorite shows on HGTV were Rehab Addict and Bargain Block and HGTV was stupid enough to get rid of both. That is ok, very easy for me to ignore HGTV in its entirety now because they offer nothing of interest now.
