‘General Hospital’s Nathan Dean Previews Return As Ethan

Nathan Dean made his return to “General Hospital” as Ethan after a six-year hiatus. The actor let fans in on what to expect from Ethan this time around, as the con artist isn’t the same man he was years ago.

‘General Hospital’ Star Nathan Dean Teases Ethan’s Return to Port Charles

In an interview with TV Insider, Dean admitted to being thrilled to be on the ABC soap again. However, things are different for the character this time around.

“He’s definitely changed a little bit,” Dean spilled about Ethan. “We know that some other mysterious people have been popping up in town. As we start to learn a little bit more about them, maybe we’ll reveal the real reason why he is back, as opposed to just, ‘Oh, I miss my friends and family.’ I’m very excited to dive into all of it.”

There is a glaring absence from the second Ethan is back in town. Ethan’s father, Luke (Anthony Geary), has died. Luke died off-screen a couple of years before Geary died at age 78 last December, something Dean opened up about before his return.

Dean had his first scenes with Ethan’s sister Lulu (Alexa Havins). The last time Dean played Ethan in 2020, actress Emme Rylan was in the role. Since Havins was new to the whole Ethan and Lulu relationship, it gave Dean a chance to have a refresher on their sibling dynamic, too.

“We hadn’t ever had communication,” he said of Havins, “so she was sort of curious about what Ethan and Lulu’s dynamic was, so it was very fun to rekindle that.”

Nathan Dean’s Back and Ready to Work on ‘General Hospital’

The actor has nothing but love for working on the ABC soap. In fact, he gushed over being able to go home again.

“This is such a wonderful place to have as a world to dive back into when you can, and I’m just very grateful that I was able to do this,” Dean spilled to the outlet.

While he couldn’t give too much away about Ethan’s Port Charles journey, Dean did hint that Ethan’s mom, Holly (Emma Samms), may pop up back in town. Dean admitted nothing has been written, but conversations are being had with Samms for a possible return.

Even if he doesn’t get to reunite with his on-screen mom, Samms, Dean couldn’t be more thrilled for Ethan’s journey on “General Hospital”.

“I’m very excited to be back and see where they want to take Ethan and bring all the fans along with us,” he gushed.

Dean has more to celebrate than just going back to a show he loves. The actor and his wife are expecting their third child.
