A Netflix series that had fans buzzing about a Zayn Malik and Louis Tomlinson reunion is reportedly no longer happening.
The two former One Direction bandmates were said to be filming a three-part road trip docuseries across the U.S., a project that would have followed them revisiting their past, their music careers, and their lives after the group disbanded in August 2015.
But according to a report from The Sun, the project has now been scrapped.
The outlet reported that filming ultimately stopped after an alleged on-set altercation between Malik and Tomlinson.
GettyAccording to The Sun, the situation escalated during production when Malik allegedly made a remark about Tomlinson’s late mother who died in 2016. The report claims the argument turned physical, with Malik allegedly punching his former bandmate during the confrontation.
The fallout didn’t stay on set; Tomlinson has unfollowed Malik on Instagram.
The outlet added that hopes of the duo reconciling faded in the months that followed, leading to the project being scrapped.
Director Nicola Marsh also appeared to acknowledge the show’s cancellation on her Instagram Story over the weekend, reposting a screenshot of The Sun’s report and writing, “… And there goes the last year of work …”
Neither artist nor Netflix has publicly addressed the reported cancellation.
Zayn Malik & Louis Tomlinson Series Would Have Revisited Their One Direction Past
GettyWhen the project was first revealed in October 2025, it gained attention because it wasn’t just another music documentary; it was a cross-country road trip where the stars would open up about their lives in a post-One Direction world.
Early reports about the series also suggested it could include deeper conversations about One Direction’s history.
At the time, fan reaction was immediate, with many calling the idea of a joint series a long-awaited reunion moment.
The series, directed by Marsh, was expected to arrive some time this year. Now, the project appears to be off entirely.
Show’s Cancellation Comes Amid Zayn Malik Health Scare
GettyThe docuseries’ reported cancellation comes as Malik deals with recent health concerns.
The singer recently told fans he was “still unexpectedly recovering” after being hospitalized, sharing a photo from his hospital bed and thanking the medical team involved in his care. He did not disclose specific details about his condition.
The update followed a last-minute postponement of a scheduled U.K. appearance due to illness. Organizers confirmed the change, and Malik later apologized directly to fans while working to reschedule the event.
Fans responded with messages of support across social media, with many encouraging him to focus on recovery.
