“America’s Got Talent” alum and comedian Drew Lynch broke down in tears after a man in his audience went into cardiac arrest during a Spokane, Washington, show on September 12.
The life-changing moment unfolded when quick-thinking crowd members jumped in to save the man’s life, performing CPR and calling 911, leaving the comedian emotional, shaken, and deeply grateful for their heroic actions.
Audience Saves Man Who Collapsed During Drew Lynch’s Show
A clip shared by Lynch, 34, on TikTok captured the frightening scene. Mid-performance, he stopped and asked, “Oh, hey. Everything okay?” When an audience member responded “No,” others shouted for help.
The man, later identified as Mr. Wende, collapsed after suffering cardiac arrest. Audience members immediately jumped into action, performing CPR and monitoring his vitals until someone announced that Wende was “waking up.”
Emotional Reaction From the AGT Alum
Lynch, shaken by what he witnessed, praised the audience for their quick response. “That was incredible, dude… You guys all really just came together in a really cool way, dude. You saved that guy’s life, man,” he told the crowd as they erupted in applause.
The next day, he shared more reflections on TikTok. “I felt as a human being that I got to experience a group of people coming together to revive someone, to give back someone their life,” he said, admitting he became emotional recalling the night.
Audience Members & Paramedics Work Together
According to Lynch, Wende had no pulse for over five minutes before being revived. Paramedics arrived soon after and transported him to receive further medical care.
“It was a beautiful thing to witness, because it restored hope for whatever is going on in the crazy of this world,” Lynch wrote. He later shared photos from the hospital where he and fellow performers visited Wende to ensure he could still enjoy the comedy he missed.
Heartfelt Tributes From Family & the Comedian
In a message shared on TikTok, Wende’s son, Nathan, thanked the audience and performers who stepped in. “You brought my dad back, literally to life. We don’t take this extra time for granted, and you make me proud to live in Spokane,” he wrote.
Lynch echoed the gratitude, adding, “Sitting and laughing with Wende’s family for hours in a hospital room was truly the reminder I needed for why comedy is so needed.”
Drew Lynch first rose to fame as a contestant on “America’s Got Talent” in 2015, where his sharp wit and resilience won over both the judges and audiences.
He finished as the season’s runner-up, launching a successful career in stand-up comedy.
