Jelly Roll Marks Sweet Personal Milestone as Daughter Bailee Is Crowned ‘Prom Queen’

Jelly Roll is marking a proud milestone as his daughter, Bailee, steps into the spotlight. The country star, who also served as the first-ever “Artist in Residence” for Season 23 of “American Idol,” shared the special moment with fans on May 2.

He posted a photo of his 17-year-old daughter from her senior prom, where she wore a glittering green dress, a silver crown, and sashes that read “Prom Royalty” and “Prom Queen.” “My little angel is the Prom Queen😭😭😭😭,” he wrote alongside the image on his Instagram Stories.

The celebration continued with a joyful family moment that captured the spirit of the night.

Hours later, Jelly Roll reposted a video featuring Bailee and his wife, Bunnie Xo, as the trio shared a lighthearted transition clip together.

The video begins with them in relaxed, everyday outfits, then Bailee leans forward, revealing their prom-ready looks as they lip-sync to “Fancy” by Reba McEntire.

“Our last high school dance transition😭😭,” Bunnie wrote over the video, later adding, “You kno we had to represent🩷.”

Bailee’s Special Night Comes Full Circle for Family

Bailee’s prom night carried a deeper meaning for the family, building on a moment they had shared just months earlier.

Earlier this year, she surprised Jelly Roll and Bunnie with a prom of their own after learning that neither of them had experienced one growing up.

The evening, called “Under the Stars,” brought together close friends and family for a night filled with music, dancing, and heartfelt connection.

“I learned a powerful lesson as a parent this week,” Bunnie wrote at the time. “Bailee has always hated school dances. But because J and I never went to ours, we’ve always pushed her: ‘Go make memories. Go have the experiences we missed.’ ”

A Lesson in Love, Time and Making Memories

Bunnie also reflected on the emotions behind the surprise, sharing how the moment shifted her perspective in a meaningful way.

“This year has been heavy — schedules, mental health, burnout…all of it,” she continued. “We’ve kept to ourselves, and we hate surprises. So when Bailee texted saying she had one for us, I spiraled. Especially after we swore there’d be no surprises for J’s birthday. But we showed up for our girl anyway…even with tired hearts.”

What followed became a memory the family will carry with them for years to come.

“And the lesson? Time is the most precious thing we own,” she concluded. “Spend it on your people. The memories you make with them will outlive everything else.”

Jelly Roll’s journey as a father has remained central to his life, shaping many of the moments he shares with fans today.

The singer welcomed his son, Noah Buddy, in August 2016 with ex-wife Melisa, marking his second time becoming a parent. At the time, he shared a heartfelt message alongside the announcement.

“God Bless this Child to be everything I am not! Noah Buddy DeFord!” he wrote via Facebook. “I pray he nor Bailee ever have to pay for their father’s sins. I’ll post more pics tomorrow.”

That same month, he married Bunnie Xo at the Little White Wedding Chapel in Las Vegas, beginning a new chapter together.

In the years since, the couple has been open about their hopes of expanding their family.

Speaking on her “Dumb Blonde” podcast in 2024, Bunnie shared how their conversation around in vitro fertilization became a turning point.

“This journey with IVF, we sat down a couple months ago,” she said, as quoted by USA Today. “And I was just like, I feel like I’ve accomplished so much in my life. And the only thing that’s left is to raise a baby and garden. I’m in my baby mama [and] gardening era.”

She continued, “J was like … ‘I would love to have a baby with you.’ And that was not the response that I thought he would say. I was just like, ‘Wow really? Have you always felt like that?’ He was like, ‘Yeah, I will always have a baby with you. If you want to have a baby, cool. If you don’t, cool. Whatever you want to do.’ So now he’s, like, really excited about it.”

For Jelly Roll and his family, Bailee’s prom night was about more than a milestone. It served as a gentle reminder of how quickly time moves and how meaningful it is to show up for one another in the moments that matter most.
