Pop star Katy Perry has received an outpouring of love from fans after admitting how hard it was to share her new song, “Bandaids,” with the world. On November 9, 2025, the former “American Idol” judge posted a message of thanks to all who have supported her in the days since she released the song, which provides a brutally honest assessment of what led to her breakup with fiancé Orlando Bloom.
Captioning a carousel of recent photos, Perry wrote, “thank you for the love on bandaids… tbh I struggled for months with the idea of putting this song out… even after all these years it can be scary to be vulnerable… but hopefully the lyrics of this song resonate with someone going through what I have been through and maybe they won’t feel so alone and will find the strength to keep going like I have ❤️🩹”
Fans Flooded Katy Perry’s Post With Support
Perry’s post was met with a flood of support from her fans, as thousands left comments thanking her for being vulnerable. Within an hour, over 145,000 people had liked the post on Instagram alone.
“We loved the song and received it as a great outburst that we clearly noticed you needed,” one devoted fan wrote. “Even being vulnerable and going through something so private and personal, you showed us that it is possible to be strong. You’ll never be alone. Never forget. We love you and we are here to welcome you and support you whenever you need. Thank you for opening up a little with us and delivering something profound with another satisfying musical work. ❤️🩹”

“Someone else chimed in, “oh katheryn you are so so SO loved. thank you for being vulnerable and letting us feel less alone 🫂❤️🩹”
Katy Perry & Orlando Bloom Confirmed Their Split in Early July
GettyAfter nine years together, including a six-year engagement, Perry and Bloom decided to split up, TMZ first reported in late June.
Days later, the duo confirmed their breakup in a statement provided by their reps, per People, which said they’d continue to co-parent their daughter Daisy Dove, who turned five on August 26.
“Due to the abundance of recent interest and conversation surrounding Orlando Bloom and Katy Perry’s relationship, representatives have confirmed that Orlando and Katy have been shifting their relationship over the past many months to focus on co-parenting,” the statement said. “They will continue to be seen together as a family, as their shared priority is — and always will be — raising their daughter with love, stability, and mutual respect.”
On July 9, Bloom shared an Instagram post full of family photos, revealing that despite their breakup, he and Perry were still spending quality time together with Daisy.
Katy Perry’s Song Lyrics Indicate Her Relationship With Orlando Bloom Was Challenging
Perry didn’t hold back in her lyrics and music video for “Bandaids,” describing a relationship that was fraught with challenges. In the music video, she appears with cuts on her face while navigating a myriad of escalating disasters.
The video begins with a gold wedding band slipping down Perry’s kitchen sink drain, with a chorus that includes the lyrics, “Tried all the medications / Lowered my expectations / Made every justification / Bleeding out, bleeding out, bleeding out slow / Bandaids over a broken heart.”
After a series of death-defying moments in the video, from evading a car collision to narrowly escaping a speeding train, Perry notices a single daisy sprouting from the ground — clearly symbolizing her and Bloom’s daughter Daisy — as she sings, “If I had to do it all over again, I would still do it all over again, the love that we made was worth it in the end.”
In addition to her split from Bloom, the past year has been a whirlwind for Perry, including her 2024 departure from “American Idol,” the release of her widely-panned album “Lifetimes,” her heavily-criticized journey to space, a sold-out world concert tour, and a surprising new romance with former Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau.

Hi Katie, the song is very beautiful, I wished I would’ve heard this song many years ago give me the courage to leave my husband at the time. He was so rotten to me after 32 years. I decided to leave my life is been 1000 pounds off my shoulder and live in life, happy and healthy and now I’m 66 and loving it
❤️ PS I wish you would come back on American Idol. It’s not the same without you. Better days ahead
