“The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” will return for a sixth season, but there’s a twist.
Hulu has reportedly renewed the hit reality series for 20 more episodes, which will essentially serve as a combined Season 6 and 7, according to Deadline.
The outlet revealed that filming has already started, and that the 20 episodes will likely be split into Season 6 and 7.
‘The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives’ Cast Members Confirmed Good News
While Hulu has not confirmed the cast members, MomTok’s Layla Taylor previously confirmed on the “Get Real” podcast that she’ll be part of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” Season 6 and is already filming.
“We’re filming Season 6 now. I am exhausted… we have this battle that all of the girls talk about,” Taylor said. “When we’re not filming, I miss it and, honestly, I get kind of bored, and so much happens conveniently when the cameras go down, so it’s like at this point, let’s just film the whole year.”
As for whether Season 6 will be less dramatic than Season 5, Taylor responded, “fingers crossed.”
“There’s obviously always going to be drama with a group of women,” she added. “I would like for it to feel a bit more joyful.”
Other stars include Jessi Draper, Jen Affleck, Miranda Hope, Mikayla Matthews, and Mayci Neeley. Meanwhile, Whitney Leavitt previously revealed that Season 5 would be her last season.
Taylor Frankie Paul, whose domestic violence charges were dropped, also responded to a social media message claiming she would be part of Season 6, according to Deadline.
Major Season 5 Shakeup Ahead
Meanwhile, “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” Season 5 has reportedly been cut to just five episodes, half its usual 10-episode run, according to Deadline.
The show, which is set to air later this year, was already in production when filming was disrupted by the multiple investigations involving Paul following domestic assault allegations.
Taylor previously hinted that Season 5 would be a “dark” season, partly because of the issue involving Paul.
“It’s no secret that MomTok has been going through some drama this year,” Taylor revealed on “Get Real” podcast. “It was the start of the blow up, it was definitely a darker season but a necessary one to understand where everyone’s at.”
In March, PEOPLE reported that cast members of “The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives” were keeping their distance from Paul amid the domestic assault investigation involving her and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen.
“None of the women want to be associated with her,” a source told the outlet at the time. “The girls are very overwhelmed. They all banded together, and they don’t want to come back right now. They were just getting tired of Taylor, honestly.”
The insider continued, “They kind of all decided, as a unit, that they’re taking the production pause, that they don’t want to film right now. I don’t think they care about her really right now. They’re just kind of like, ‘We’re done for right now.'”
