“American Idol” winner Taylor Hicks just made a bold play for Kelly Clarkson‘s heart. 23 years after Clarkson made history by winning the first ever season of “American Idol,” the singer revealed that she never received the car she was promised as part of her grand prize.
During a conversation with “The Traitors” Season 4 winner Rob Rausch and Daniel Radcliffe on the Mar. 10 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the host admitted that she never received the prizes she was promised for winning, and one of these prizes included a car that Clarkson needed at the time.
In response to this, Hicks decided to make his move with a flirty comment in the press.

GettyWhen Hicks was asked for his reaction to Clarkson’s big reveal, the Season 5 winner told Page Six on Mar. 13 that he is, “a big fan of Kelly Clarkson” and that he considers her to be “one of the most incredible voices to emerge from ‘American Idol.'”
Hicks concluded his statement with a flirtatious comment directed at Clarkson, according to the outlet. “I would be more than happy to help her find a new Mustang,” he said.
Other ‘American Idol’ Winners Have Received Their Prizes
Clarkson asked Rausch during his appearance on her show about his $220,800 prize from winning “The Traitors.” When Rausch responded, “they still haven’t paid me,” the singer told him that she could relate.
“I literally was on the show, and they were like, ‘Oh, you win a million dollars’ or whatever. No, you didn’t. It was, like, a million dollars worth of investment in you,” Clarkson said, per PEOPLE.
She continued, “And then they said you get a car, and I needed it ‘cause my car was bashed in, and I couldn’t afford the deductible.”
Clarkson went on to admit that she never received a car, but Clay Aiken, who was the runner-up on Season 2 of “American Idol,” got two cars. According to Clarkson, Aiken got one car for himself and another for his mom.
“American Idol” Season 4 winner and one of the show’s current judges Carrie Underwood has also said in the past that she received a Ford Mustang convertible as part of her prize.
“I do still have the car that I won when I won ‘American Idol.’ So I have my blue Mustang. And every once in a while something will happen where I’ll have my car getting serviced or whatever, and I’ll get to drive that car,” Underwood said during an interview on “Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen” back in 2023, per Taste of Country.
“And it always makes me want to drive it more, because it was such a pivotal point in my life,” Underwood continued. “That was the car that I was driving around when I first moved to Tennessee, and I’m very, very glad I still have that car.”
