Jordin Sparks Reveals Whether She Got a Car After Winning ‘American Idol’
During a March 16 appearance on “Today With Jenna & Sheinelle,” guest co-host Justin Sylvester asked Sparks about her experience on “Idol” after Clarkson revealed she never got the promised prize car.
“I got my car,” the singer confirmed with a laugh. “Look, I wasn’t a part of Season 1. But the first season of anything is a little crazy.”
Sparks added, “I hope they give her one now. Somebody send her a Ford.”
On the March 10 episode of “The Kelly Clarkson Show,” the season 1 winner spilled the beans that she never got the car she was promised when she won the singing competition.
“I literally was on [‘American Idol’], and they were like, ‘Oh, you win a million dollars’ or whatever. No, you didn’t. It was, like, a million dollars worth of investment in you.”
Clarkson continued, “And then they said ‘You get a car,’ and I needed it because my car was bashed in and I couldn’t afford the deductible … “
She added, “No! I did not get a car. And then Clay Aiken, who didn’t win the second season, got a car and his mom [also got a car]!”
“I was like, ‘What the [expletive]?'” she said. “I remember Clay telling me that the second season, he was like, ‘Yeah, they gave my mom one.’ I was like, ‘I’m gonna actually kick your [expletive] right now.'”
Fans weighed in on the YouTube video of the interview, with one person writing, “The money that Clay got was the money that Kelly made them from drawing in the views on season 1. That’s her money!!”

Carrie Underwood Kept Her ‘Idol’ Car
In a 2023 interview on “Today’s Country Radio with Kelleigh Bannen,” season 4 winner Carrie Underwood shared that she kept the Mustang she won on “Idol.”
“I do still have the car that I won when I won ‘American Idol,'” she said. “So I have my blue Mustang.”
Underwood continued, “It always makes me want to drive it more, because it was such a pivotal point in my life.”
“That was the car that I was driving around when I first moved to Tennessee, and I’m very, very glad I still have that car,” she added.
